Introduction:
This course presents the fundamentals of HVAC system maintenance, basic installation and
troubleshooting. This course will help to understand the refrigeration cycle. This course will also help
in determining basic heat loads, air circulation quantities, use of psychometric processes, computing
the cooling capacity.

Basic installation, test run and troubleshooting
Psychometric chart and Air conditioning calculations
Example calculation with software program
Duct and Pipe sizing basic
Ventilation and pressurization
Preparation of single line drawing
Quantity take off of major and minor HVAC equipment
Quantity take off of HVAC bulk material
Preparation of bill of quantity (BOQ)

in each components. do design calculations and understand design capability, material selection and
type of construction to minimise heat conduction, minimise radiation, ability to select compatible
cooling (heating) units, air handlers and duct design to assure balanced flow rates. Able to do take
off and estimate HVAC system of projects.

This course presents the basic procedures for determining the cooling/heating loads and distribution
system required for a building in order to maintain comfortable atmosphere for people. This course
will also help in determining and evaluating building heat loads, air circulation quantities, use of
psychometric processes, computing the cooling unit & air handler tonnage and sizing the air
distribution ducts along with the use of computer programmes. This course will also provide a forum
for discussion to the participants regarding job related technical issues.
