“FUNDAMENTALS OF OPERATIONS
MANAGEMENT”
ANSWER:
Demographic analysis involves the set of methods that allow us to determine the dimensions and
dynamics of populations with the help of demographic analysis they use predicted demand.
These theories have been applied mainly to study human populations, but are based on a set of
areas where researchers want to know how social actors' populations can change with time
through birth, death, and migration processes. Demographic research in the sense of human
biological populations uses administrative documents to establish an independent population
estimate. Lead strategy is implemented by Arnold Palmer hospital; capacity is added by the lead
capacity strategy before demand actually exists. If the demand does not materialize, then the
Arnold Palmer Hospital will unnecessarily find itself with unused/empty beds as well as the cost
of ramping up capacity quickly. In anticipation of demand, it is done and the capacity is
increased. It is a rather aggressive strategy and is used in the hospital industry to draw clients, i.e
patients, away from other competitors.
QUESTION NO 2:
ANSWER:
Arnold Palmer Hospital management, as it minimizes risk, like a lead strategy approach.
However, there is some risk to the lead power strategy. Lead-based capacity decision, and the
drawback of this technique, is that it often results in excess inventory, which is expensive and
often inefficient. Similarly, it may be a risk and waste of too many resources like unused beds,
equipment, machinery, etc. in the case of Arnold Palmer Hospital when real demand is not equal
to the projected demand.

2 6230 12460 4
3 6432 19296 9
4 6950 27800 16
5 7377 36885 25
6 8655 51930 36
7 9536 66752 49
8 9825 78600 64
9 10253 92277 81
10 10555 105550 100
11 12316 135476 121
12 13070 156840 144
13 14028 182364 169
∑X= 91 ∑Y= 121371 ∑XY= 972364 ∑X2 = 819
X′ = 91/13 = 7
Y′ = 121371/13 = 9336
972364−(13)(7)(9336)
b=
819−(13)( 49)
122788
b=
182
b = 674.65
a = (Y′) - (b X′)
LINEAR REGRESSION:
Y′ = a + b X′
Y′ = 9336
