Lesson 01

Engage

Reflect on the importance of law in a democratic society.

1. In your own opinion, who is Rizal as a hero and as a person?

He was a man of science, a scholar and writer, and to many

young Filipinos is idealized as a model son and something of a ladies’ man

2. As a law-abiding citizen, what can you do to support the rule of law?

As a law abiding citizen all I can do in the rule of law is to help the

Government from people who commits bad actions and to people who abuse

of their power.

3. What do you think are the implications when the rule of law is eradicated?

The world will be more chaotic and the people will freely do whatever they want and to
much freedom will create crimes. When there is no rule of law, Laws will surely become unfair to
other people's and its important so that we can control a little movements of the citizens since they
are afraid oppose the law since they will face the consequences of their action.

expanded even further after the completion of the Suez Canal in 1869. The growth of commercial
agriculture resulted in the appearance of a new class.

The 19th century saw large amounts of social change; slavery was abolished, and the First and Second
Industrial Revolutions (which also overlap with the 18 th and 20th centuries, respectively) led to massive

formation of Rizal’s love for his country?

These events were crucial to the formation of Rizal’s love for his country because he observed the
many justices which were being done to the Filipinos and he also observed in his childhood and

the Filipinos had to live depending on the government which did not care about them. All these events
led Rizal to form his love for his country.
