Materials needed:
1. YarnArt Jeans, 55% cotton, 45% acryl, 50g/160m, next
colors:

• for body – brown color № 71


• for hat – pink color № 20 and № 78
• for beard and hat – white color № 62
• for cherry – red color № 51
• for leave – green color № 52
• for nose – beige color № 05

2. Crochet hook 2 mm or 2.25 mm (US: B, UK:14)


4. Holofiber, thick sewing needle, pins.
5. Piece of cardboard 4 on 4 inch for one gnome’s base.

If you follow this advice your gnome will be 20 cm

Yarn tip: cotton/acryl or cotton 100%

Abbreviations:
ch – chain stitch
st - stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet
sl st – slip stitch
inc – increase, 2 sc in the next sc
dec – decrease, sc2tog, single crochet 2 stitches
together
(16) – number of stitches in a round
(inc, sc)*N – repeat N times
BLO – back loop only

Body.
With brown yarn.
IMPORTANT! Pay attention on the
different descriptions for big and
small gnomes.
Start with making a round base. Work in
continuous rounds without slip
stitches.
Rnd 1: 7 sc in the MR

Сut the base of cardboard.

Connect the white yarn:

rounds for big gnome.

For small gnome Rnd 14-24: sc in each stitch around 11
rounds. Then proceed to crocheting 30 rnd.

Insert the cardboard base.

Hat for big Gnome.
Start with pink yarn.
Work in turning rows, each row to
crochet with BLO.
Chain 41, start with the 2nd loop from
the hook.
R1: 40 sc
R2: ch 1, dec, 37 sc, inc (40)
Connect the white yarn:
R3: ch1, inc, 37 sc, dec (40)
R4: ch1, dec, 37 sc, inc (40)
With pink yarn:
R5: ch1, inc, 37 sc, dec (40)
R6: ch1, dec, 37 sc, inc (40)

Repeat rows R3 – R6 12 more times. You


should get 54 rows in total.
Cut the pink yarn only.
With white yarn:
R55: ch1, inc, 37 sc, dec (40)
Try on a hat on the gnome, it must freely
fit the body.
Fold the hat so that its edges are
placed against each other, forming a
ring. Connect the edges of the base with
a row of 40 sl st, inserting the hook
into the back loop of the last row and
into the corresponding loop from primary
chain of ch’s at the same time.
Cut the yarn, leave a long end.
Tighten the hole with a needle,
tighten the loop, cut the end of the
thread.

Hat for small Gnome.
Start with pink yarn.
Work in turning rows, each row to
crochet with BLO.
Chain 35, start with the 2nd loop from
the hook.
R1: 34 sc
R2: ch 1, dec, 31 sc, inc (34)
Connect the white yarn:
R3: ch1, inc, 31 sc, dec (34)
R4: ch1, dec, 31 sc, inc (34)
With pink yarn:
R5: ch1, inc, 31 sc, dec (34)
R6: ch1, dec, 31 sc, inc. (34)

Repeat rows R3 – R6 12 more times. You


should get 54 rows in total.
Cut the pink yarn only.
With white yarn:
R55: ch1, inc, 31 sc, dec (34)
Try on a hat on the gnome, it must freely
fit the body.
Fold the hat so that its edges are

Tighten the hole with a needle, tighten the loop, cut the
end of the thread.

Arms for big Gnome.


Start with the pink yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in the MR, go on in
continuous rounds without slip
stitches.
Rnd 2: 6 inc (12)
Rnd 3: 12 sc
Rnd 4: 12 sc
Rnd 5: 5 sc, 1 puff stitch, 6 sc (13)
Rnd 6: 5 sc, dec (two stitches of puff
stitch), 5 sc (12)
Connect white yarn.
Rnd 7: BLO 12 sc
Rnd 8: 12 sc
Connect brown yarn.
Rnd 9-17: sc in each stitch around 9
rounds.
Stuff the bottom part of the arm (palm)
with stuffing material, you don’t have to
stuff the top part of the arm.

Then squeeze the hole of the hand so that the stitches of
the last round line each other.
Crochet the opposite stitches with 5-6 sc.

Cut the yarn, leave a long end for sewing.


Repeat the same for the second arm.

Arms for small Gnome.


Start with the pink yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in the MR, go on in
continuous rounds without slip
stitches.
Rnd 2: 6 inc (12)
Rnd 3: 12 sc
Rnd 4: 12 sc
Rnd 5: 5 sc, 1 puff stitch, 6 sc (13)
Rnd 6: 5 sc, dec (two stitches of puff stitch), 5 sc (12)
Connect brown yarn.
Rnd 7: BLO 12 sc
Rnd 8-13: sc in each stitch around 6 rounds.
Stuff the bottom part of the arm (palm) with stuffing material,
you don’t have to stuff the top part of the arm.

Then squeeze the hole of the hand so that the stitches of

With green yarn. Crochet 2 leaves.
Chain 8, start with the 2nd loop from the
hook.
1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, in last
stitch:(sl st, ch 1, 1 sl st),
work along the other side of the
foundation chain: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1
hds, 1 sc.

Twig.
With green yarn.
Chain 21, start with the 2nd loop from the hook, 20 sl st.
Cut the yarn, leave a long end for sewing.

Sew the cherries and leaves to the twig.

Assembly and decoration.


Attach the arms, beard and nose to the body with some pins.
The lower edge of the beard should be between 17 and 18
rows of the body.
Attach the arms between 24 and 25 rows of the body for
small gnome, and between 28 and 29 rows of the body for
big gnome.
Attach the nose in the center of the beard.

Put on the hat. The top of arms and nose should be placed
under the hat. Move them the way you like.
Take off the hat, sew the arms, beard and nose to the body.
Put on the hat and attach it to the body with hidden
stitches.
