LEONARD APALLA 1BEED-A

Acceptance of Uniqueness

It was a sunny, bright morning when Kevin woke up from his bed. He was excited
as he giggles imagining what will happen in his first day of school. He did his daily
routine starting from praying, next he fixed his bed, then he took a bath, and he had
breakfast. After some minutes he is finally ready for school.

He arrived early and saw his classmates last year. They talked about the
vacation they had in which they had enjoyed their summer. Kevin has a circle of friends.
He has a Manobo friend, an Ilocano, Bicolano, Tausug, Tiruray and Kapampangan. He
really loves his friends, even though they have different culture they understand each
other. They accept one another as sisters and brothers by heart. They respect each
other’s opinions, traditions and even the practices they have. Whenever they have a
problem they make sure to solve it with unity. That is why their friendship is strong and
they are very happy with it. Suddenly the bell rang and it is the time for their class under
Ms. Santos. Kevin and his friends immediately found their seats and waited for their
teacher. After a while Ms. Santos came and with her is a girl whose face is covered with
thin clothing. ‘’Good morning Ms. Santos we are glad to see you’’ Kevin together with
his classmates greeted. ‘’Good morning class, I am glad to see you too’’ the teacher
answered. ‘’We will have our class for today, but before that I want you to know that we
have a transferee. Let us listen to her as she will introduce herself.’’ So the new pupil
walked in the center and smilingly said ‘’Good morning everyone, I am Rahida
Rachman, 9 years old and a proud Muslim.’’ The pupils started to whispers with one
another. ‘’I have heard that Muslims are bad people’’ Shan said. ‘’They are dirty and
always wanted to start a war’’ Rey added. Kevin then raise his hand and stand as he
said ‘’ Telling other people bad things based on what we hear is not appropriate. We
don’t have any proof that Muslims are bad. In fact they are very good even if they have
different beliefs and tradition, they help people who are needy and they are also good in
fine arts. They are friendly and one of the cleanest people in the world. The teacher
then clapped her hands ‘’ that is right Kevin, Muslims may be different from us but they
are unique. We just have to accept them, their differences and they will accept us in
return.
