Abstract
A number of students join colleges from high school with exemplary grades but along the
course their performances begin to vary as some fail to up to the score that they had managed in
their previous grade. As such a number of activities and conditions were very highly deemed to
be the main cause of all this struggles; family status, and the time spent on the social media. Due
to this we decided to conduct a research on the same and establish the truth.
This report entails all the finding and visual presentations on the relationship between
time students spend on social media and the family status they come from. The report uses data
that was collected from the perceived students to be coming from those families and in its
analysis it boroughs a lot for presentation in visual. A number of methods were employed in data
collet ion some of them included, use of questionnaire, oral interviews and a few peer to peer
chats. Also internet was very helpful in determining other data that was then run against the data
Problem statement
A large number of students have been found to perform very differently with their
academic works and this has been greatly attributed to where they come from and specifically
their respective family structure (Naik, & Reddy, 2018).as such this essay aims to establish if there
is any possibility that the student who are associated with either, living alone, staying with single
Hypothesis:
Null hypothesis:
Here its assumed that numerous student that stay alone will for sure spend more time on
instagram compares to others staying with their parents or just single parents.
Alternative Hypothesis:
In this case the alternative hypothesis reveals that students that alone will for sure spend
more time on the social media while those staying with the single parent takes the least time of
Method
The process of obtaining data that has been used in formulating this report involved an
arrays of means. There was use of questionnaire that helped in getting the general views on this
topic, there was also use of internet to obtain more data that was then combined before settling
on the final information. This was basically after students were identified into three groups
depending on their family structure; those that stay alone, those that stay with single parents and
Procedure:
The researcher did develop questionnaires and had them divided into the three categories
representing the three groups of the student that is; those living alone, living with both parents
and those residing alone. They issued the questionnaires to each group who then helped in
providing the data on the same after an overnight timing on the time each person on social
media.
This was all conducted having given prior notification to all the parties that were actively
involved. Not all the contacted persons accepted the call others rejected giving lame excuses why
they could not be part of it .In addition to this exercise, there was also an extensive search for
more than online, which was then run against the one collected from the student before settling
The collected data is to be tabulated and used in the analysis which then will lead to
Result
This project majorly employed majorly the use of anova tables as the data involved
contained countable data that involved comparison of more than one data set. With it, we were
able to calculate the mean and the variance of the result.inaddition we managed to find the values
of p-value and the function ratio that was very instrumental in ascertaining the hypothesis. The
statistical result can be found in the excel file attached .or a summary version of the result in the
Discussion
Relationship between time students spend on social media and their family status.
A number of factors a proved by the studies do interfere with student’s behavior on social
media .this report having been compiled for the purpose of studying on how the family structure
or status do interfere with the students behavior ,we came up with a number of presentation on
the same.
With this we were able to pick on all the variables availed from the data collected and
was used for evaluations (Özakın, & Kaya, 2020). We first came up with an Anova table for a
single factor basically for trying to evaluate the null hypothesis .it through this single factor
Anova table that one is able to validate the null hypothesis in this report.

SS-sum of squares refers to the sum of all the square deviations of all the observation that were
made.
df –it comes in play when a given number of matched values are stacked.
MS-it the “mean square” which is found when you get the quotient of the total summation that
F ratio here we get by the quotient of one MS and another. And lastly, P values which has been
established by evaluating value of F and the two degree of freedom (9=FDIST the formula in
excel.)
Using this two factor table the report was able to evaluate the alternative hypothesis just as
indicated. The data provided had no any form of duplicated data and thus the best way for
increased accuracy was using the two factor table with no duplicate (Aaen, & Dalsgaard, 2016).
We did calculate the mean square for every one of the given two main effects of the data that is

Pie chart
Then with the pie chart the report has brought out a fully evaluation of all the average time
difference spent among the three groups of family status. From the chart it’s obvious that those
students living alone have spent more time on average on the social media
