Proposal 4 7
Purpose
The purpose of this proposal is to request authorization to research and report the innovations of
the electric vehicle industry, and encourage consumers to consider purchasing electric vehicles.
The research will study the effect of electric vehicles on the electric industry, impact on global
emissions, and the lateral move for vehicle production companies to eventually ditch combustion
engines.
Introduction
On March 18th, 2021 Chief Executive Officer Jarrid Willamson requested for a report on the
impact of electric cars on global industries and environmental impact.. Therefore the goal for this
report is to further reinforce the theory that electric cars are better for the environment, are more
economical, and more reliable than conventional combustion engine vehicles.
Chief Executive Officer Jarrid Williamson will use our report to determine if he will further
invest into the electric vehicle industry. Allowing for further developments in the industry as
well as promoting the use of electric vehicles.
Our company Rah Productions is committed to research and development of electric vehicles.
Our missions include: test driving electric vehicles, studying emissions output, and evaluating
the cost production of electric vehicles and the electricity used to produce and run them.
Research
Electric vehicles serve as an alternative to regular combustion engine vehicles. These vehicles
are designed to be more economical and environmentally friendly while also providing a safer
and more comfortable mode of modern transportation.
In terms of safety first, our research involves Tesla Motors, currently leading the electric vehicle
industry with 220,000 units sold. Tesla’s Model X was awarded the quickest and most capable
sport utility vehicle in history that holds 5-star safety ratings across every category from the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Tesla also focuses on safety outside their vehicles. Tesla
vehicles are produced at its factory in Fremont, California, and Gigafactory Shanghai. To achieve our
goal of having the safest factories in the world, Tesla is taking a proactive approach to safety,
requiring production employees to participate in a multi-day training program before ever setting
foot on the factory floor. From there, Tesla continues to provide on-the-job training and track
performance daily so that improvements can be made quickly. The result is that Tesla’s safety rate
continues to improve while production ramps (Tesla.com/about).
The main debate of the innovations of electric cars is if their production and charging pertain less
to an economic impact on emissions of greenhouse gases than their commercial combustion
counterparts. Although electric cars alone are environmentally friendly, the process to produce
them and charge them uses energy sources that are not environmentally friendly. The goal is to
compare the production and application of electric cars against the production and emissions
from general combustion cars.
Task 1
Research plans for electric cars and how it will affect industries
According to The Washington Post, by the year 2035, General Motor plans to completely
eliminate the use of gasoline/diesel in automobile vehicles. So logically, it would be a good idea
to open the door to the world of electric cars. We are seeing this in today’s societies through
Tesla, hybrid electric cars, and the idea is to transmit this to every major car company. However,
we gotta think how this will affect the industry. Regarding the oil industry, manufacturing of
vehicles, etc. Hypothetically speaking, each of the listed industries will take a big hit and
possibly go out of business as there would no much longer be a need to have engines for
vehicles, or gas stations, and other components that make up for cars. We can see how this will
change our roads, highways, and transportation by probing in on the use of electric cars so far.
Task 2
Discuss global emissions with multiple companies
We can now address the issue on fossil fuels being used for gasoline/diesel and how they are
running out fast. Without a doubt, humans use a lot of fossil fuels and burn a huge amount of it
everyday for our cars and fossil fuels takes millions of years to be used appropriately for us to
thrive off of it. Time is running out for humans to change its course to global warming according
to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. If we do not make a change about this
soon then this will. We can talk with Tesla and Hyundai since they are major companies going
up in the world of electric cars. This can be done by talking to a credible representative of any
electric car company that knows what they are doing. We must go over gas companies, global
warming/climate change, and other major issues society would be concerned about.
Task 3
Analyze data between a fuel car user vs a electric car user
In this task, we will talk to 2 different major users. Obviously being gas consumers vs electric
users. We will discuss how different they are, how an electric car user differently uses their
vehicle, how a gas consumer car user uses their vehicle, and how they can be similar in a way if
that is possible. The idea is to try and compare the users and try to go off of the use of electric
car users as a look into the future while basing today's society off the gas consumer since that is
still the most common today.
Task 4
Determine the average emission per mile of vehicles
In this task, we are going to pair up with a research party to determine the emissions associated
with miles driven between the two types of vehicles. From there we can calculate an emissions
average, whether monthly or yearly. Doing so allows us to use variables and determine how
much emissions emitted per year based on the number of miles, amount of vehicles, and time
driven and or charging.
Task 5
Compare the safety features of modern electric and combustion vehicles
In accordance with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, their personnel conduct
crash tests on production vehicles. We will compare and contrast the safety ratings of current
2019-2021 electric vehicles compared to the average safety rating of a general vehicle from
2000-2015, to a modern vehicle made in the recent years following 2015. This allows us to
compare the average safety in the past, and the difference between the modern vehicles today.
