    1. Read the following stories, then analyze them based on their generic structure (orientation,
    complication, and resolution). 
    2. Identify the use of simple past tense in the text, write  at least 10 words for each text with the
    Indonesian meaning

    1. Generic Structure
    - THE LEGEND OF KESODO FEAST IN MOUNT BROMO
    Orientation:

    Hundreds years ago, the last king of Majapahit had a young princess from

    one of his wives. The princess was named Roro Anteng. Later, Roro Anteng married

    Joko Seger, who came from Brahman caste. Because of unfortunate situation the

    couple was forced to leave the kingdom. They settled in the mountain area. They

    ruled the area and named it Tengger, which was derived from their names, Roro
    Anteng and Joko Seger.

    Complication:

    After several years of reign, the region flourished in prosperity, but Roro
    Anteng and Joko Seger were sad because they did not have a child. They
    climbed the top of mountain and prayed there night and day hoping that
    the God would listen. The prayer was heard and Betoro Bromo promised
    to give them many children. However, they had to promise that they
    would sacrifice their youngest child in return.

    Resolution: Pharagraph 3

    Roro Anteng gave birth to a child, then another and another. In the end,
    Roro Anteng and Joko Seger had 25 children. Soon it was time to
    sacrifice the youngest child , Kusuma, but the parents could not do it.
    They tried to hide him, but an eruption happened and Kusuma fell into the
    crater. There was silence before they heard a voice. “I have to be
    sacrificed so that you will all stay alive. From now on, you should arrange
    an annual offering ceremony on the 14th of Kesodo (the twelfth month of
    Tengerese calendar)”. It was Kusuma’s voice. Kusuma’s brothers and
    sisters held the offering ceremony every year. Instead of human being,
    they collected fruits, vegetables, rice, and meat to be offer to the Gods.
    And this has been done generation after generation until today.

     THE LEGEND OF SURABAYA CITY


    Orientation:

    A long time ago, there were two animals, Sura and Baya. Sura was the name of a shark and
    Baya was a crocodile. They lived in a sea. Once Sura and Baya were looking for some food.
    Suddenly, Baya saw a goat. Yummy, this is my lunch: said Baya.
    Complication:

    No way! This is my lunch. You are greedy; said Sura. Then they fought for the goat. After
    several hours, they were very tired. Feeling tired of fighting, they lived in the different places.
    Sura lived in the water and Baya lived in the land. The border was the beach, so they would
    never fight again.
    Resolution:

    One day, Sura went to the land and looked for some food in the river. He
    was very hungry and there was not much food in the sea. Baya was very
    angry when he knew that Sura broke the promise. They fought again.
    They both hit each other. Sura bit Baya’s tail. Baya did the same thing to
    Sura. He bit very hard until Sura finally gave up and went back to the sea.
    Baya was happy.

     The legend of Nyi Roro Kidul story


    Orientation:
    Once upon a time,there was a beautiful princess named Kadita.Because of her
    beauty she was called Dewi Srengenge .It meant The goddess of sun.Her father was
    King Munding Wangi.altought he had a beautiful daughter,he was unhappy because he
    always expected to have a son.

    Complication:

    The king decided to marry Dewi Mutiara.He had a sin from her.Dewi Mutiara wanted her son
    to become a king in the future. She asked the king to send his daughter away .The king did
    no agree. Dewi Mutiara called a black wizard to curse Kadita .She wanted Kadita’s beautiful
    body full of ulcer .It smalled bad .The beautiful princess cried. The king was sad .No one
    could cure his daughter’s illnes.The king did not want her daughter to be a rumor so he sent
    her away . The poor princess did not know where to go .However, she had a noble heart She
    did not have any bad feeling about her step mother .She walked for almost seven nights .
    Then ,she came to the south ocean was to clean and clear. She jumped into the water and
    swam .
    Resolution:
    Suddenly ,there was a miracle .The ocean water cured her illnes .She became more beautiful
    than before . She also had a power to commad the whole south ocean. She became a fairy
    called Nyi Roro Kidul or The Queen of South Ocean.
