Murder of Sara Lynn Wineski, 2005

One of the global criminal cases solved by the aid of Forensic Science is
the Sex Assault and Murder of Sara Lynn Wineskilt in U.S.A. The killing of
Sara Lynn Wineskilt was a death of a homeless or transient individual that
needed a lot of effort to be solved. It happened in May 21st the year 2005 as a
woman's crying were heard outside Ronald McDonald's restaurant in St.
Petersburg, Florida. Shouts and yells were heard around 11 p.m. on May 21,
2005, according to the News, but her body was not discovered until the
following afternoon under a deck behind the building. When her body was
discovered by police, it was found that she had only been dead for less than 24
hours. Post-mortem findings revealed that the victim had been brutally
murdered after being sexually assaulted. DNA was forensic evidence that had
been obtained at the crime scene. During the investigation into her death,
police discovered Raymond Samuels' DNA at the crime scene. Raymond
Samuel was wandering or roaming around the area where he came across with
Sara. Sara was vulnerable and defenseless and yet Samuel took advantage of
it. Investigators were able to connect him to the crime after discovering his
DNA at the scene and learning of his current prison term. Since there were no
witnesses, DNA played a big role in solving the case. Investigators would have
had a hard time linking someone to Sara's case if it hadn't been for Samuels'
DNA. Tissues, blood, bones, and hair can all be used to extract DNA. In
connection, in forensic science, biological evidence is critical in determining the
outcome of a case. The DNA is usually sourced from biological pieces of
evidence. In cases like sexual harassment, lost identity, paternity, and murder,
forensic technology like DNA Finger Printing come in handy. Of which, the goal
of forensic technology in detective work is to ensure that the right people are
held accountable for the crimes they have committed. To shed light to the case
of Sara, Raymond Samuels was identified as the suspect after the proof was
examined. He had also been sentenced to another prison term in Ohio on
charges of attempted murder and kidnapping.
