when sleeping in a cot or similar product in which a child is contained
4.1.2.1 Requirements Neck opening, in relation to the child height, shall comply with the requirements according to Table 1, 8.1 Entrapment of body Neck openings in relation to the age
when measured in accordance with 4.1.2.2 (see A.2.3). For sleep bags with a stated age range up to 6 months, the size of the
NOTE Complementary approaches based on arm openings and chest width is given in informative neck opening shall be between 280 mm and 320 mm.
Annex D. For sleep bags with a stated age range from 6 months upwards, the
size of the neck opening shall be between 355 mm and 395 mm.
NOTE 1 Figure 8 gives examples of designs of common neck openings.
The dashed line shows where this measurement should be taken.
NOTE 2 See A.4 for further information.
4.1.2.2 Test method neck opening is folded and measured under a force of (2,5 ± 0,2) not provided
4.1.3 Press fasteners, buttons buttons or metal press fasteners used for fastening the neck opening and the arm opening, they shall 10 Mechanical hazards - choking and ingestion all grippable components are tested in CRE type m/c, requirement follow Table

non-grippable components are tested for durability by cleansing method.
4.1.4.1 Requirements
4.1.4.1.1 slide fasteners shall comply with EN 16732, at least the performance requirements of
code B, with the exception of the strength of closed-end for which the minimum shall be 70N, and
with
the requirements of Table 2, as stated in EN 16732.
4.1.5.1 When positioning touch and close fasteners, the hook component shall face away from the
child’s body to reduce the possibility of skin abrasion (see A.3.5.1).
4.1.5.2 Pieces of touch and close fasteners shall be die cut with rounded corners to reduce the risk
of scratching (see A.3.5.1).
8.2.1 Requirements There shall be no loop labels attached to the sleep bag.
4.2 Mechanical and physical hazards 8.2 Entrapment of fingers and toes
(see A.3)
4.2.1 Entrapment of fingers and toes, 8.2.1 Requirements When tested in accordance with 8.2.2, there shall be no openings in
ischemia mesh or flexible materials that allow the finger probe to penetrate to
the 7 mm diameter section.
For all faces of the fabric, the maximum length of uncut threads shall
be 10 mm, and the maximum length of cut threads shall be 10 mm.
NOTE See A.4 for further information.
8.2.2 Test method Mount the finger probe (see 5.2) on a device for exerting a force and
insert the probe with an applied force of up to 30 N into the openings
in mesh and flexible materials.
Check whether the 5 mm test probe (Figure 4) with an applied force of up to 30 N, enters 10 mm or
more into any completely bounded circular openings in rigid materials, in any possible orientation.
If the 5 mm test probe enters 10 mm or more, then the 12 mm test probe (Figure 2) shall also enter 10
mm or more with an applied force of up to 5 N.
9.2 Test method Measure the length of a cord, ribbon or part used as a tie from the
fixing point on the sleep bag to its free end, while applying a 25 N
tensile force to it.

given, proceed tumble at the recommend setting; if do not tumble dry symbol
is given, proceed dry flat.
4.2.4 Cutting, puncture, abrasion Newly added
4.2.4.1 Requirements The component parts used on children's sleep bags shall not have any sharp edges, sharp points or
burrs (see A.3.5.1).
4.2.4.2 Test method The presence of hard, sharp or foreign objects shall be confirmed by carrying out a visual and tactile
inspection.
NOTE Ferrous foreign objects can be searched using magnetic devices.
4.3.1 Migration of certain substances Materials (textile, plastic, metal, leather, etc.) shall comply with the migration limits of Table 3 related 6.1 Migration of certain elements All materials used shall conform to BS EN 71‑3
to elements and organic tin compounds, when tested according to EN 71-3:2013+A2:2017 (see A.4.2).
This requirement may be addressed through a safety assessment.

This requirement may be addressed through a safety assessment.
4.3.3.1 Requirements The sleep bags or its components shall not be finished with chemical flame retardants (see A.4.2).
4.3.3.2 Methods Where appropriate the absence of chemical flame retardants can be proved by known declared
sources
(traceability of the fabric finishing).
4.4.1 Requirements When tested in accordance with 4.4.2., the thermal resistance of the sleep bag shall have a maximum 7.2.1 Requirements When a separate sample is tested in accordance with BS 5335‑1:1991, D.2
