Statistical Treatment of Data

This study uses the descriptive method in order to determine the evaluation on
the the evaluation of the selected carinderias in Barangays Anabu 1-C, 1-E, 1-F, and 2-
B about the different practices to avoid food waste, it deals with characterizing data
obtained from samples and populations in terms of measures of central tendency and
measures of variability.
The data gathered was interpreted according to the used of percentage, median
and Kruskal Wallis test. A percent is a ratio whose second term is 100. Percent means
parts per hundred and we use the symbol % to represent it. In this lesson, we learned
how to convert between ratios, fractions, decimals and percents.

The median refers to the middle data point of an ordered data set at the 50%
percentile. If a data set has an odd number of observations, then the median is the
middle value. If it has an even number of observations, the median is the average of the
two middle values.
Where
n – number of observations
x tilde – symbol for median

The Kruskal-Wallis H test (sometimes also called the "one-way ANOVA on

ranks") is a rank-based nonparametric test that can be used to determine if there are
statistically significant differences between two or more groups of an independent
variable on a continuous or ordinal dependent variable.
CHAPTER 4
PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA
This chapter presents and interprets the data gathered from the evaluation of the
selected carinderias in Barangays Anabu 1-C, 1-E, 1-F, and 2-B about the different
practices to avoid food waste.

Table 4.0 Scaling Method

Range Description
Strongly Agree (SA) 4 The respondents fully believe that this practice
helps in avoiding food waste.
Agree (A) 3 The respondents believe that this practice helps in
avoiding food waste.
Disagree (D) 2 The respondents reject that this practice helps in
avoiding food waste.
Strongly Disagree (SD) 1 The respondents fully reject that this practice helps
in avoiding food waste.

The figure 4.2.1 shows the median scores of all the respondents in accord to its
demographic profile of each selected practice in avoiding food waste among selected
Carinderias in Brgy. Anabu 1-C, 1-E, 1-F and 2-B in Imus city.
As the data gathered, the practice(s) with the highest rate or with the highest
median score from the 17 female respondents are practices 1, 2, 10, 11, and 19 with a
median score of 4 which means the respondents fully believe that this practice helps in
avoiding food waste.
The highest rate or with the highest median score from the 12 male respondents
are practices 1, 2, 3, 11, 13, 17 and 19 with a median score of 4 which means the
respondents fully believe that this practice helps in avoiding food waste.
The highest rate or with the highest median score from the 7 21-30 years old
respondents are practices 13 and 19 with a median score of 4 which means the
respondents fully believe that this practice helps in avoiding food waste.
The highest rate or with the highest median score from the 7 31-40 years old
respondents are practices 1, 2, 10, 11, 14 and 19 with a median score of 4 which
means the respondents fully believe that this practice helps in avoiding food waste.
The highest rate or with the highest median score from the 11 41-50 years old
respondents are practices 1, 3, 10, 11, 13, 17, and 19 with a median score of 4 which
means the respondents fully believe that this practice helps in avoiding food waste.
The highest rate or with the highest median score from the 4 51-60 years old
respondents are practices 1, 2, 10, 11, 14, 17, 18, 19 and 20 with a median score of 4
which means the respondents fully believe that this practice helps in avoiding food
waste.

The figure 4.2.1 shows the median scores of all the respondents in accord to its
demographic profile of each selected practice in avoiding food waste among selected
Carinderias in Brgy. Anabu 1-C, 1-E, 1-F and 2-B in Imus city.
As the data gathered, the practice(s) with the lowest rate or with the lowest
median score from the 17 female respondents are practices 5, 7, 9, and 15 with a
median score of 2 which means the respondents reject that this practice helps in
avoiding food waste.
As the data gathered, the practice(s) with the lowest rate or with the lowest
median score from the 12 male respondents are practices 5, 7, and 9 with a median
score of 2 which means the respondents reject that this practice helps in avoiding food
waste.
As the data gathered, the practice(s) with the lowest rate or with the lowest
median score from the seven 21-30 years old respondents are practices 5, 7, and 15
with a median score of 2 which means the respondents reject that this practice helps in
avoiding food waste.
As the data gathered, the practice(s) with the lowest rate or with the lowest
median score from the seven 31-40 years old respondents are practices 5, 7, 8 and 9
with a median score of 2 which means the respondents reject that this practice helps in
avoiding food waste.
As the data gathered, the practice(s) with the lowest rate or with the lowest
median score from the eleven 41-50 years old respondents are practice 7 only with a
median score of 1 which means the respondents fully reject that this practice helps in
avoiding food waste.
As the data gathered, the practice(s) with the lowest rate or with the lowest
median score from the four 51-60 years old respondents are practices 7 and 12 with a
median score of 2 which means the respondents reject that this practice helps in
avoiding food waste.

Question 4 Is there a significant difference in the evaluation of selected practices to

avoid food waste in terms of?
a. Age
b. Sex

The significant level in the Kruskal-Wallis test is 0.304 and the P value is > 0.05,
therefore there is no evidence against the null hypothesis (there is no statistically
significant difference in the evaluation of selected practices to avoid food waste in terms
of sex). Data appears consistent with null hypothesis means it fails to reject the null
hypothesis. A Kruskal-Wallis H test showed that there is no statistically significant in the
evaluation of selected practices to avoid food waste in terms of sex, with a mean rank
evaluation score of 16.18 for female, 13.33 for male.

The significant level in the Kruskal-Wallis test is 0.190 and the P value is > 0.05,
therefore there is no evidence against the null hypothesis (there is no statistically
significant difference in the evaluation of selected practices to avoid food waste in terms
of sex). Data appears consistent with null hypothesis means it fails to reject the null
hypothesis. A Kruskal-Wallis H test showed that there is no statistically significant in the
evaluation of selected practices to avoid food waste in terms of ages of the
respondents, with a mean rank evaluation score of 10.93 for 21-30 years old, 14.50 for
31-40 years old, 15.64 for 41-50 years old and 21.25 for 51-60 years old.
