14. Assertion (A): Fe2O3 + 2Al→ Al2O3 + 2Fe, this chemical equation is an example of a displacement
reaction.
Reason (R): aluminium is more reactive than iron, displaces Fe from it’s oxide.
15. Assertion (A): Air and water are examples of abiotic components of the ecosystem.
Reason (R): Lactic acid formation occurs in human only when there is lack of oxygen.
In the refraction of light through a rectangular glass slab, the light ray changes its direction at
the point O and O’ and at O’ the light ray has entered from glass to air bend away from the
normal. The emergent ray is parallel to the incident ray. The incident ray, the refracted
ray and the normal to interface of two transparent media at the point of incidence, all lie in
the same line.

Copper sulphate crystal contains water of crystallisation when the crystal is heated the water is removed
and salt turns white. The crystal can be moistened again with water. The water of crystallisation is the fixed
number of water molecule present in 1 formula unit of copper sulphate. On heating gypsum at 373K, it
loses water molecule and became calcium sulphate hemihydrates.

c. Washing soda
d. Bleaching powder
20. Resistance is the property of a conductor to resist the flow of charges through it. The current which
flows through a resistor is inversely proportional to its resistance; if the resistance is doubled the current
gets halves. A component of identical size that offers a higher resistance is a poor conductor. An insulator
of the same size offers even higher resistance. The resistance of the material depends upon the various
factors. The resistivity of an alloy is generally higher than that of its constituent metal.
I. The resistance of a wire length 300m and cross section are 1.0 mm2 made of material of
resistivity 1.0 ×10-7 Ωm is :
a. 2Ω
b. 3Ω
c. 20Ω
d. 30Ω
II. The resistivity of a metal is depending upon:
a. length
b. nature of material
c. area of cross section
d. all of these
III. What happens to the resistance as the conductor is made thicker?
a. resistance decreases
b. resistance increases
c. resistance remains same
d. none of these
IV. Metals and alloy’s resistivity is in the range of:
a. 10-10 Ωm to 10-5 Ωm
b. 10-8 Ωm to 10-6 Ωm
c. 10-10 Ωm to 10-6 Ωm
d. 10-9 Ωm to 10-5 Ωm
V. Why alloy is commonly used in electrical heating devices like toaster etc.?
