REVIEW OF THE
LITERATURE
REVIEW OF LITERATURE:

1. BLESSY ELIZABETH MATHEW (2015), has conducted study to view the

importance of time management in becoming efficient in the workplace and to find the best steps
and strategies that help in time management. She says that time management is the ability of a
person to use the time function to accomplish the tasks in the exact timing. When we are successful
at time management, we are able to accomplish all of the tasks that we need to in the most efficient
manner. Where there is more time management there will be more achievement and less stress.
Managing time effectively is knowing when to delegate and think critically is essential. There is
no shortcut to become effective as well as to manage time. Careful planning will enable us to
reduce the number of crisis in our life so that we will have the energy and time to react when a
true crisis occurs and to live a well-balanced life.

2. ROMEL G. SOLIS-CARCANO, GILBERTO A. CORONA-SUAREZ, AND

ALDO J. GARCIA-IBARRA HINDAWI (2015), has studied that a significant effect of
the use of processes related to project time management on project performance, especially for
completing the construction phase within the original schedule, which evidenced a poor
application of project management, or at least of project time management. Despite of poor project
management observed in these projects, it was proved that more effort dedicated to project
schedule management the more likely to succeed on timely completion of construction projects.
In most of the projects in which completion was attained on time, a greater number of tasks
associated with schedule planning and controlling was used.

3. STEVE M. JEX. TINA C. ELACQUA (1999), has examine whether time

management behavior moderated relations between stressors and strain. The use of time
management behavior would be negatively associated with strain and was expected to be mediated
by feelings of control over time. The results of this study suggest that engaging in time
management behavior may have a positive impact on the mental health of employees. It was also
found that the relation between time management behavior and strain may depend upon the
feelings of control over time.

4. ABBAN, KENNETH (2012), has studied that time management is important to a well-
balanced life. How we use the amount of time makes all the differences to our lives. We can create
a happy family, grow businesses and realize personal goals in the time available to us if we change
our life style and attitudes. It is a systematic application of common-sense strategies. It requires
little effort, yet it promotes efficient work practices by highlighting wastage. It leads to effective
use of time by focusing in our chosen activities. Time management reveals problems and provides
a structure to implement and monitor solutions. It enables us to take control of our own time.

5. LUCY KARIMI NJAGI, JANE MALEL, (2012), has studied that managers in the
parastatals need to put in more efforts in educating the staff on the management by objectives.
There is a direct relationship between management by objectives principle and target setting. Good
and reasonable targets have a time frame. Time frame for any given task is only achieved if the
time and objectives are well communicated. The most common way of managing employee’s time
as shown in the study is by clocking in and out. But the same organizations are quick to identify
that what each of them does at each time after clocking in cannot be measured effectively. There
is a direct relationship between work performance and how one handles available time.
