LO2. Install Wiring Devices For Floor Ground and Fault Current Interrupting Outlets
LO2. Install Wiring Devices For Floor Ground and Fault Current Interrupting Outlets
activities in the installation of wiring devices for floor and ground fault current
interrupting outlets. It includes instructions and procedure on how to install ad select
electrical wiring devices.
At the end of the lesson, you should be able to:
LO2. Install wiring devices for floor ground and fault current interrupting
outlets.
A. Define the GFCI.
B. Identify the types of GFCI.
_____ 1. Four way switch always needed the pairs of a three-way switch.
_____ 2. The type of switch that can be used to control light in a single location is a
single pole switch.
_____ 3. Four-way switch can control lights into three or more locations.
B. Electrical wiring diagram: Draw the schematic diagram of the following electrical
wiring situation (6-10)
1. Two lamps, lamp A is controlled by two three-way switches and a four-way switch.
Lamp B is controlled by a single pole switch with convenience outlet and a circuit
breaker.
Learning Task 2: ELECTRICAL WORD HUNT. The following electrical terms inside
the puzzle are very relevant to the topic you are about to study. Find the following
electrical terms by using clue below. Write your answer on another sheet of paper.
Clues:
1. Component that can disconnect or connect the conducting path in an electrical
circuit,
2. These are electric switches that use electromagnetism to convert small electrical
stimuli into larger currents.
3. An electrical device which is used for switching an electrical circuit on or off.
4. It provide a place in a wiring system where current can be taken to run electrical
devices.
5. It carry electrical charge, usually electrons, move easily from atom to atom with
the application of voltage.
6. It detects ground faults and interrupts the flow of electric current.
7. An automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit
from damage caused by excess current from an overload.
8. It is a socket that connects an electrical device to an electricity supply.
9. It is a single usually cylindrical, flexible strand or rod of metal.
10. A is a graphical representation of an electrical circuit.
Types of Wiring Devices
1. Switch
2. Relays
3. Contactors
4. Receptacles
5. Conductors
1. Circuit-Breaker Type
The circuit-breaker type includes the functions of a standard circuit breaker
with the additional functions of a GFCI. It is installed in a panel board and can protect
an entire branch circuit with multiple outlets. It is a direct replacement for a standard
circuit breaker of the same rating.
2. Receptacle Type
The receptacle style GFCI incorporates within one device one or more
receptacle outlets, protected by the GFCI. Such devices are becoming very popular
because of their low cost. Most are of the duplex receptacle configuration and can
provide GFCI protection for additional non-GFCI type receptacles connected
"downstream" from the GFCI unit.
Final Task: A. Read each statement carefully and identify the item/s being asked.
Write your answer on a separate sheet of paper.
