Project Proposal For The Pollution and Contamination of Talisay, Pooc Coast
Project Proposal For The Pollution and Contamination of Talisay, Pooc Coast
Talisay City is home to individuals from different walks of life. Based on a 2020
census report, the city has a population of 263,048 residents. With that given number, it
is expected that every household significantly contributes to the overall waste in the
area. According to a 2017 analysis study of the Provincial Environment and Natural
Resources Office (PENRO), the said province alone generates trash at a rate of 1.2
million kilograms per day. The annual garbage disposal of communities contributes to
the thousands of tons of garbage that get carried away by the oceans. Most of these
garbage are composed of plastic material, a non-biodegradable waste, which lasts an
extended amounts of time. Following this, the Coastal beach which directly faces the
Corona del Mar Subdivision in Pooc, Talisay City, has been found to have polluted
waters and contaminated sands.
The different factors of the thoughtless litters include the land sources which are
the residents inside and outside the Corona del Mar neigborhood, the closest
subdivision directly facing the coast, the populace of the nearby barangays namely:
Pooc, Tungkil, Pakigne, and Lipata-Linao. Other waste sources include the
unmanageable washed up refuse, and the waste that go down the drains which are
deposited in the oceans. This situation, which impacts the overall health, and
enjoyment of the communities surrounding the coast, urges environmental awareness
and strategical implementations.
As we are the genesis of the problem, it is only right and ethical to form a plan of
action that will impede the continual interference in the coastal area of Talisay, Pooc
brought upon by irresponsible human activities. As members of the community that
advocates for environmental protection and conservation, we would like to propose
the project: Sea Preservation Plan. This project aims to identify the roots of the problem
and construct corresponding solutions.
In our proposed Sea Preservation Plan, three aspects are focused on, namely:
Protection of Marine Life and Coastal Zone, Supervision of Beach Visiting Operations,
and Individual Contributions. All of the aspects mentioned are factors that determine
the success of the proposed project. Moreover, under each aspect are the suggested
solutions that will be further submitted to the appropriate authorities.
The graphic organizer below thoroughly presents the details of the proposed Sea
Preservation Plan.
The presented possible solutions will only hold its value if the members of the
community recognize and view these with respect to their societal obligation. Along
with our individual contributions, with widespread knowledge and unified action,
environmental transformation and over-all locality improvement will be gradually
manifested in the continual recovery of Talisay’s waters.
