RB CRBC ADDIS ENGINEERING P.L.C sent a letter to BEST Consulting Engineers regarding the Bole Summit Asphalt Road Project Lot I. They observed that sections of roads No-65, No-1, and No-85 fall within a cut section with over 1 meter of open excavation depth. This could cause erosion of black cotton soil from adjacent slopes and contamination of walkways and clogging of drainage systems. They proposed constructing a masonry open ditch along the roads to protect from runoff from nearby areas.

Subject: Provide of masonry Open ditch


Dear Sir,

As we have observed during actual construction operation, the right hand


side slope stake of road No-65, No-1 and No-85 fall within cut section. There
will be one meter and bigger open excavated depth almost along the whole
section of these roads.
It is obvious that the black cotton soil from adjacent cut slope will be eroded
and contaminate the walk way and even clog drainage pipes and manholes
unless suitable peripheral drainage system is provided.
This is therefore to kindly propose construction of masonry open ditch along
the way so as to protect incoming runoff from adjacent catchment area.
We can submit shop drawings upon receipt of your consent and approval of
this additional works.
