• When asked to crochet FLO, make the stitch as usual but leave the back loops untouched.
When asked to crochet BLO, make the stitch as usual but leave the front loops untouched.
• Please be aware that when you use different yarns and hook sizes, the outcome may vary and you may
have to adjust the size of eyes.
• The pattern often requires slip stitches which are very narrow stitches. To make them wider, crochet as
loosely as you can. Optional for these stitches you can also use a half HS bigger.

polyfiber fill evenly and firmly.

4
Snout.
Crochet the snout directly into the open hole which you have created at the head. Start at the bottom right side as
you can see in the graphic below. Crochet in spiral rounds.

Rnd 1: sc in next 3 st, inc in next st (st in the corner),

Rnd 6: (dec in each st around) repeat 5 times (5)
Finish the snout with 1 sl st, cut the thread and close the hole with a tapestry needle. To form the snout, take a
sharp needle and pull the snout inwards as described on graphic below.

At this point start with the first st of

rnd 1 and continue clockwise in
spiral rnds

Use a sharp needle to pull the thread through the

opening at the snout. Pull towards the head until
the snout disappears halfway inward. 5
Finishing the face.
After filling the head with polyfiber fill, you can now sculpt the eyes with bringing the eyes inwards. If you haven’t
done this before, use instructions and pictures on page 14 as guide.

The black Eyebrows are embroidered diagonally 7 rnds above the eyes.

Paint red cheeks under the eyes with a brush and Pink/red blush.

Rnd 42: sc in each st around (18)

Crochet further 9 sc to finish the work at the back, make 1 sl st and fasten off. Sew the thread carefully.

Roll up the Tail and sew it into place.

7
Coronet (head).
Crochet in rows. Use the colour which you have choosen for the coronet.
For the start of the coronet you have to crochet a row of sl st. Starting at the bottom of the back’s head
continueing upwards until you reach the forehead (at rnd 8 approx.) (if you make a unicorn seahorse finish the sl st
row at approx. rnd 5 to 6):

R1: sl st across, ch 2, turn.

R2: 3 dc in each st until you reach the MR, now crochet dc inc in each st until you reach the end of row. ch 1,
turn.
R3: (sc in next 5 st, ch 2, 1 sc into the 2nd ch from hook) repeat until you reach the end.
Fasten off and sew the thread carefully.

Start here at the back of the head with the

first sl st of the coronet (head).

8
Sew the head onto the body. When sewing on, make sure that the head has the same orientation as
the body. The head is sewn on bent slightly (bent forward).
To do this, you have to sew on the head in the front area between the penultimate and last rnd.

9
Sew on the head in this position

10
Coronet (back).
Crochet in rows. Use the colour which you have choosen for the coronet.
Start again with a row of sl st.

R1: Start your first sl st at rnd 16 of the body and crochet a row of sl st up until you reach rnd 32. Ch 1, turn.
R2: sc inc in each sl st across, ch 1, turn.
R3: : (sc in next 5 st, ch 2, 1 sc into the 2nd ch from hook) repeat until you reach the end.
Fasten off and sew the thread carefully.

Start here with the first sl st

of the coronet (back).

11
Fin (make 2).
Use the colour which you have choosen for the fins.
The fin starts with a MR, but it will be coninued in rows. Crochet all stitches into FLO.
MR, Ch 3,
R1: make 3 hdc in the third ch from hook, 1 sl st into the MR, ch 1, turn
R2: 4 sl st, ch 3, turn
R3: 3 hdc into the first st, hdc in next 3 st, 1 sl st into the MR.
Cut the yarn, pull at the starting thread to close the MR. Sew one of the threads carefully. With the second thread
you can sew the fin onto the body (on the left and right of the body, approx. between rnds 33 and 34).

12
Horn.
If you want to make a magical unicorn seahorse, you can add a little horn.
Crochet in spiral rounds. Use the colour which you have choosen for the body and horn.
Rnd 1: sc 4 into a MR (4)
Rnd 2: sc in each st around (4)
Rnd 3: (inc in next st, sc in next st) repeat 2 times (6)
Rnd 4: sc in each st around (6)
Rnd 5: (inc in next st, sc in next 2 st) repeat 2 times (8)
Rnd 6: (inc in next st, sc in next 3 st) repeat 2 times (10)
End with 1 sl st and fasten off.
End with 1 sl st and fasten off. Sew the horn onto the head, directly at the bottom of the coronet, approx. between
rnds 8–10. You can also wrap a thread in the colour of the fin around the horn. Sew both thread ends carefully.

At the end you can take a long thread of the coronet’s colour and embroider some accents on the body and head
by using the knot stich.

13
Sculpting the eyes.

After the head has been finished and stuffed, the eye is now pressed inwards a little with a tear-resistant thread
or with the cotton yarn you used for crocheting. Use a long thread for this. With a pointed needle, pull both ends
of the thread through the head very close to the eye and come out again at the bottom of the head opening. Now
you can tighten both ends and you will see that you are pulling the eye inwards. Knot these two threads a few
times and stuff the ends into the head. Do exactly the same with the second eye.

Hurray! You made it! Your seahorse Nalu is finished! I hope you enjoyed it!
