(Date Covered: August 17 - 19, 2021 – T & Th)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:
 Define what perseverance, hard work, and goal are;
 Learn the importance of perseverance;
 Identify ways on how to show perseverance in different experiences; and
 Appreciate the story of “The Parable of the Widow and the Judge” and how did the widow persevered
to get her rights.

SUBJECT MATTER
Topics: Lesson 3: We Work Towards Perseverance
Reference: Christian Living for Everyday Life 6 by: Esteban, Alfredo et.al. (pp. 24-29)
Materials: Computer, Power Point Presentation, Text Book, Videos

PROCEDURE
Day 1- August 17
Engage/Explore: (Verbal-Linguistic, Visual-Spatial, Intrapersonal, Existentialist)
 Motivation: Word Hunt. The students need to find the words in the letter pool (page 25). They
are given 10 minutes to find the words and afterwards the chosen students will give their
insights about the word assigned or given to them.

Discussion: (Verbal-Linguistic, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, Existentialist)


 Introduce some of the successful individuals in the Philippines and briefly tell how did they
achieved their goals thru perseverance.
 Discuss perseverance and its importance to one’s life.
 Let the students know that as we persevere in life the more goal oriented we become; the more
effort we will put in whatever we do since we set a goal that we want to attain (long term or
short term).
 Explain that fortitude helps us to be strong and brave to face any challenges that will come in
our lives.
 We should always persevere and put passion in what we do.
 Differentiate long term goals and short-term goals.
 Read and understand the story “The Parable of the Widow and the Judge” (p.26)
 Ask the students: How did the widow show perseverance?
Did the judge give the widow’s wife?
What is/are the importance of Perseverance and Hard work?

Extend/Elaborate: (Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, Existentialist)


 Perseverance is to continue on what we are doing despite of the problems and difficulties we
face.
 Develop perseverance to finish what we’ve started or to attain the goal we set or dreamt of.
 Just like the widow we should be persevere to get and attain what we want in life whether for
long term or short-term goals.
 Don’t give up when it gets hard along the process, persevere and believe in yourself.
 Ask the students: What is/are the importance of perseverance?
What will happen if a person stops persevering?

 Persevering is a value that a person should possess especially in accomplishing one task or
achieving goal in life. Life is full of challenges and obstacle we must not give up when it gets
hard, we should work hard to continue and move forward in what we do. We should learn to
believe ourselves and our abilities, that’s why as we persevere the more tasks we will
accomplish and finish.

Day 2 – August 19
 Graded Oral Recitation (Each student is given a chance to answer a question and each question
is 1 point each.)
 Answer Responding (page 28) for 15 mins.
 Sharing of insights and stories.

further and let the students memorize it.
