I. The field is hereby informed thatthe Virtual Division Mathematics Olympics will be on December 1-2,
2021 via MS TeamsS.
2. The competition aims to:
a strengthen the mathematical skills of the learners by performing diferent Math hands-on activities
b. provide the learmers the opportunities to showcase their potentials and strengthen their confidence
and self-esteem.
3. As agreed during the Planning Conference by the Lead Principals and Math coordinators last October 19
and 26, 2021, the following are contest categories and technical working committees:

6. Furthermore, there will be a pre work activity for Individual Math Quíz and Math Story on November 26,
2021,9:00 AM at Lala National High School. The contest administrators/facilitators are advised to attend.

Travel expenses by the working committee to Lala NHS shall be charged to local fundsMOOE subject to
the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
8. All participants, coaches and working committee shall observe proper health and safety protocols as
mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

INDIVIDUAL MATH QUIZ

Contest Mechanics
1. The competition is done virtually. Each contestant is advised to secure a stable internet connection.
2. For elementary, cach district will send one contestant for Grade 3 and one for Grade 6 while for the
secondary level, one for Grade 10 and one for Grade12.
All contestants shall use a headset to avoid
disqualification from the contest.
The coverage of the contests: (a) for Grade 3 from Grade 1 lessons up to Grade 3 Quarter 1; (6) for
Grade 6 from Grade 4 lessons up to Grade 6 Quarter 1; (c) for Grade 10 ffom Grade 7 up to Grade 10
Quarter 1 and (d) for Grade 12 are General Mathematics and Statistics & Probability.
5. One hour before the contest proper, all contestants must be on board the contest virtual room.
6. The link will be provided one day before the contest.
7. All contestants will answer the same set of questions.
8. A number is assigned to the contestant to be written on the upper right comer ofthe meta cards (1/4 size
of A4 bond paper). The contestants will write their answers on the size tag board/white board.
Before a question is read, the contestants must raise their marking pen.
9. Questions will be read twice by the Quizmaster. The contestants will answer each question
according to the time allotted on each round. Time starts when the Quizmaster says "GO"
10. After the time limit and the buzzer sounds, the contestants will raise their meta strips until they
are acknowledged by the Quizmaster.
11. The Quizmaster will give the correct answer and announce the contestants with correct answer.
12. There are two sets ofthe contest, elimination and final round. In the elimination round, all
contestants from Cluster I shall compete to determine the top three winners and the same
process for contestants from Cluster 2. For the final round, the top three winners from Cluster
1 and Cluster 2 will compete for the top three winners.
13. There are three rounds in each competition namely:
a. PartI- Easy round is composed of 5 questions answerable within 15 seconds per question,
each question worth point.
b. Part II- Average round is composed of 5 questions answerable within 30 seconds each
question worth 2 points.
c. Part IlI - Difficult round is composed of 5 questions and should be answered within 60
seconds, each question worth 3 points.
14. Answers must be complete with units when necessary. However, if the unit is already given in
the way the question is asked, it need not be given in the answer.
15. Only the contestants can ask for clarification/protest regarding the question/answer read before
the Quizmaster reads the next question and this will be addressed to the board ofjudges. However,
the Board of Judges must not entertain any questions and all protest after the next question is read
or after the announcement of winners.

l6. The contestant who gets the highest number of points is automatically declared the champion;
and the second (2n) and third (3) highest the Runners up.

17. Should there be a tie among the contestants vying for the first three places, the contest continues
to the Clincher Round to determine the Champion or the Runners up as the case may be. In the
Clincher Round, three questions will be asked, cach worth 5 points.
18. Ifthe tie is not broken after the three questions, "do-or-die" questions will be given until a winner
is declared.
19. The total number of points of the tied contestants will revert to zero (0).
20. The decision of the board of judges is final.
21. The top three winners will be awarded with medals and certificates.
22. Coaches are prohibited to be with the contestant while the contest is going on.

MATH GAMES/ INNOVATIONS CONTEST

Contest Mechanics

1. This contest is open to teachers in any grade level.

2. Each contestant should submit the complete write up of the Math game/innovation and the
video on the rationale and mechanics/procedure of the game/innovation The format of the write
up includes (a) rationale of the gamelinnovation indicating the Math LC and code, (b)
mechanics of the game/innovation, (c) sample.
3. The video and write up ofthe innovation must be submitted on November 26, 2021, through the
google drive provided for preliminary judging using this format Math Innovation_School

4. Virtual interview of the contestants will be done during the scheduled Division Math Olympics.
5. The criteria for judging are as follow:

MATH STORY WRITING CONTEST
Contest Mechanics
1. This contest is open to leaners in
