SUMMARY OF THE CONTENT

Who is your model/mentor teacher? Present bases of your reasons/discussions by citing


educational principles and theories?

I have look up this particular teacher since high school whom I consider my model teacher. I
think I'm still in no position to spill his name right now but I want to share how he
became my most respected mentor. It was during first year high school when he became
my math teacher. I was then, a timid and outspoken student who appears with no social
relatives and no good at making friends. With the fact that I am so small in stature, I was
so shy before but this teacher I keep on looking up always make things possible in
simpler ways. He always has something that provides me courage to overcome my fears
and stand up and rely on chances. Basically, I was not that good in his class, that even
answering when he's calling names gave me so much pressure. But I was taken aback
when he only smiles and compliment me instead for courage when I answered a wrong
answer once. That helps me a lot to try more risk and use up all the cards of
opportunities in my education. And I felt so blessed when in grade 8, 9, 10 and even
senior high school he became my math teacher. Through all the years of ups and downs,
he became my second father not just me but to everyone, who's always there to listen and
provide advices to me. What I have respected the most to him is his equal treatment to
each one of us without further favors and biases. He's a type who even the hardest to deal
with will pay a respect. Before I gone for college, I've asked him about the path I'm
going to take, he said that I could be a great engineer if I want to. I'm quite speechless in
that time, with the idea that he really considers me as his daughter when he want me to
pursue the dream that he never got a chance to. After all, that was a fatherhood
suggestion, and still he let me decide for my own. The decision was not instant, after
talking a lot of times about course ventures in college, I suddenly think of becoming an
educator like him. In taking this education course, I've vowed that I will make myself an
educator like him someday.

Bruner's Constructivist Theory


I can say that to his way of teaching, he always let us interpret our own learning. With an
awareness that most of us are not into mathematics and that our lessons are complicated and
uninteresting for us, he always makes simpler ways to help us understood and being motivated
by the lesson. To energize us, he begins with the question asking how's our day, then he would
talk a bit about that until he got all the attention of everyone. He's a type who like explaining
complication in a simple way, just like how he wanted us to incorporate mathematics to
individual life situations and let us tour our campus to discover relevant objects. He's been
always like that, after engaging the objectives he wanted us to be free for fresh air and have our
own buttons in learning. He's also a modern teacher that utilizes technology in teaching and
learning. He uses powerpoint and even encourage us of using our gadgets during our class for
further exploration of knowledge and information.

Gagne's Condition in Learning


I realized that his way of teaching likely based on Gagne's Nine event of instruction to Gagne's
Condition in learning (Ben and Kaley). First thing that happens in our classroom when he arrives
is motivation, he always first got everyone's attention through engaging conversation about our
topic for the day. Then, after that he introduces the objectives and call random students who
would recapitulate our previous lesson. He ensures that everyone of us will be able to connect
our prior knowledge to our new learning. He's utilization of technology always make his
teaching and our learning in a different level and pace since we can able to understand better and
discover more through internet. Whenever he evaluated our individual and group performances
based on the tasks given he always find ways to correct our mistakes and determine what has
been lack to it. In giving feedbacks whether positive and negative he always made sure that
everyone could have a helpful response that will guide us to the right path of learning. Well, its
also a big thing for him to meet the objectives for the day's lesson and that will be based on our
performances and test scores. I really appreciate how he handle our dullness sometimes, that he
create ways in order to energize us and encourage on collaborative work where we can brain
storm and form ideas together. In that way, the whole class will be interactive and active where
each of us is given a chance to present in the blackboard and complete the activity. The lesson
will not just end like that since he made sure that the new knowledge acquired will be useful for
us and can be instilled in an internalize manner.

A quality education is one that focuses on the whole child--the social, emotional, mental,
physical, and cognitive development of each student regardless of gender, race, ethnicity,
socioeconomic status, or geographic location. It prepares the child for life, not just for
testing. The meaning of a Quality Education is one that is pedagogically and
developmentally sound and educates the student in becoming an active and productive
members of society.

It is said that quality education is one that focuses on the whole child, and that is
developmentally educates students in becoming active and productive members of
society (Slade, 2017). As COVID appears plaguing everyone in the world, it does affects
and has a big impact to everyone's education. Technology has been of main used tool
that bridging one's education to opportunities of educating theirselves amidst the effect
of the pandemic, not meeting face-to-face and not having the learning in the usual four
corners of classroom. This gradually calls on qualifying the quality education with the
current educational situation we're in right now. Further, putting the roles and full
responsibilities to the learners. As learners, with obedience and adhering to the strict
measures, we are bound staying at home and do our own learning through utilization of
online platform. We hold own buttons and switches to learning, whereby it fells molding
ourselves to be productive individuals who are in right state physically, intellectually and
emotionally and of purpose to our society. Needless to say, we're in high percentage of
disadvantages as online learners, the reason why of being given considerations and
patience by teachers and even with the institution. As it is normal, that everyone is not
fairly equipped with learning tools and resources, given that we have different status and
household state, be it the internet connection, gadgets and financial supports. It is also
given that some household doesn't provides conducive environment of learning for
students. Somehow, beyond disadvantages we have advantages of fulfilling those roles
and responsibilities within our homes while studying. In improving and developing
intellectually, internet is a good tool for knowledge exploration and discovering more
information that will aid our learning. We are at high chances to advance our knowledge
and do our own studying regimen at home. Moreover, in improving our emotional state,
given the rampant and prevailing issue of depression among students and even the
appearance of worst cases of suicide, our household will provide support for us.
Managing our time in joining our family bondings, and of enhancing one's passion and
immersion is an efficient way to help us breakthrough and breath a fresh air apart from
stress and frustration. It is also equally important to maintain and regards our health as
our top priority. Be it that there are days that were given many deadlines and
paperworks, caused us to sometimes slack off our usual eating time and sleeping hours.
In maintaining good health, we can easily assert the significance of having time
management like doing things through our schedule, altering distractions and gaining
more focus with the tasks given. Managing our time is very helpful challenge for
everyone, which is basically not just for students. Let's just say that avoiding
procrastination will lead us to healthy being, in that manner we can get full enough sleep
and eat at scheduled times as usual. Overall, it is a challenge of self discipline for each of
us. The present educational system is not in constant predicament after all, and there are
maybe other opportunities and chances to look forward one of these days. Thus,
qualifying quality Education within each learner is an objective that should be ensurely
uncompromised, since it is the main point of our education.
