Activity 2
PERCEIVED ROLES of a TEACHER
Specific Tasks:
1. Interview a resource teacher about his/her perceived roles as a teacher.
2. Reflect on the teacher’s roles based on your understanding of
child/adolescent development and learning.
Interview Report:
As I have interviewed ma’am Aniceto last October 5, she was able to tell me
important roles as a teacher. The one is to deliver classroom instructions that helps
students learn. Another is to become a guider and facilitator in giving the activities to
the students. Next is to be a teacher, discussing the topics and lessons for the
students to gain new knowledge. She is as well the controller inside the classroom,
so the classroom management is depending on her. As a teacher, she told me that
you must be always prepared ready to lend a hand to all students in need of help.
And most importantly, you are the role model to your students. Be sure that
everything you do is in accordance to the code of ethics because all the time,
students are observing and some be using you as their inspiration.
Reflection:
Being a teacher is not that easy. I have learned that an educator always do
multitasking. You are teaching, at the same time, you are as well managing the
classroom, you are the mentor, the guider and facilitator when doing activities and so
on. But the most important role of a teacher that I have learned is to be the model.
Yes, it might feel uncomfortable being observed, whereas all eyes are on you, but as
a teacher, we have to be very careful on how we act and on the words coming from
our mouth. Let us discipline ourselves and make ourselves an inspiration to our
students.

COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION
Students differ. Every learner is unique. Some are active and participative, but some are only silent, I’m
not sure if they were listening or they were doing something. It’s good that there are some students who
are asking for clarifications to the teacher so that everyone will really totally understand their lessons. But
what’s most important is that everyone is really learning a thing, that everyone is going to pass and that
everyone is reflecting from what they are listening doing.
