REFLECTION

My personal goals for this course are social working and grammar improvement. Instead
I improved on my speech skills and the creation of a lesson plan. I feel that most of my lesson
plans work only in my class but by working in a PLC group I was able to work on my
cooperation skills. Which I considered to be real world problems that I was in need of. My
artifacts show my growth in content and how I worked through lesson planning. I feel it’s
important to display them because it shows my growth as a student and teacher. They also
represent change in how I view literacy in my discipline. Its changes from only viewing grammar
to understanding the safety of internet interactions. I know my social networking skills improved
with the PLC groups and I will continue to work on how I drive my social interactions forward.
By working with my PLC groups, I was inspired to work the same way with my mentor teacher.
Our work became clear and inspiring for students. I felt better in this because of my practice with
my PLC group. My favorite artifacts were the literacy in my discipline essay, it asked all the
right questions and worked towards helping students move into literacy driven comprehension.
Working on engagement in for the group lesson in PLC’S I felt confident in working with
students and how to activate prior knowledge. I know my think aloud was my favorite piece
because it has to do a lot with literacy with poetry. I feel that poetry is the first place where one
should start because it has the same guidelines of questioning should take someone when
consuming literature. It also provides a structure for students so that it is easier for them to
complete. My usage of peardeck is important to my presentation skills as a teacher, and shows
my improvement towards my speech skills. All this connects to how I have improved as a
student and are working my way into being a good teacher. Since literacy has played a huge role
in this since it pushed me forward to better lesson planning and social networking. Literacy in
my discipline can mean understanding why something was written and what does it mean. This
leads students to question and try to understand a piece. This is important since it plays as an
important skill in everyday life. It is also important for students to try and gain an understanding
of what is considered important in a piece and what it means in regard to context and how it
shapes the story. While my think aloud focusses on guided practice I over all believe that
because of this practice student will gain confidence once they get the chance to work on
independent assignments. This shows a little bit more in the activating prior knowledge
Because of independent it is aside from the group work section. Students will gain knowledge
from guided practice and it will show as long as you provide independent work aswell.
