A study was conducted among 110 students from 8 UiTM campuses in Malaysia to investigate their knowledge of self-defense. Most students (98) reported knowing about self-defense, while 12 did not. For practicing/learning self-defense, the number of students who responded yes and no was equal at 55 each. The study aimed to examine students' acknowledgement, types of self-defense practiced, and money spent on classes through a questionnaire. Findings are presented in bar charts and tables.

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Study

A group of researchers are interested to investigate the knowledge of self-defence

among the University Technology MARA (UiTM) students in Malaysia and they
were 110 students that are chosen from selected UiTM region to help this
investigation and distributed the questionnaires.

This investigation is to identified the student knowledge about self-defence art.

Self-defence is a counter measure that involves defending the health and well-
being of oneself from harm of the outside world. The use of the right of self-defence
as a legal justification for the use of force in times of danger is available in many
jurisdictions.

In self-defence courses, self-defence methods and suggested actions under the

threat of aggression are routinely taught. In the larger sense, commercial self-
defence instruction is part of the martial arts industry, and many martial arts
teachers often offer courses in self-defence. Although all training in martial arts
can be claimed to have certain self-defence applications, self-defence courses are
specifically promoted as efficiency-oriented and situationally tailored as they occur
in the real world.

1.2 Objectives of Study

The objective of this case study is:

i. To study the acknowledgement of self-defence amongst all UiTM students.

ii. To find the coefficient of variation type of self-defence amongst all UiTM
students.
iii. To compare the range of money spent on self-defence classes amongst
UiTM Students.
