If the LTE eNodeB (6501 etc.) is to be set up with IP Security (IPSec) on the backhaul, then the IP
Security Certificate is required to be downloaded from the network to the eNodeB prior to beginning
the integration. Therefore, a transmission connection to the network must be established to the
eNodeB prior to starting the integration. Follow Section 5.1 to enrol the IPSec certificate on the node
that is required before integration can begin.
o If IPSec is required due to the eNodeB requiring to be in a public space (On a pole in the street
or a wall of a public building), the commissioning process may be inconvenient at the actual
installation point. To avoid this inconvenience, the eNodeB can be temporarily taken to the site
of its supporting SIU (in a Telstra Exchange) and connected directly to the same port of the SIU
for the entire commissioning process. Once commissioned, the eNodeB can be powered down,
disconnected from the SIU and taken to the installation point, where it is re-connected to SIU via
the installed cabling and integration completed.
o If IPSec is not required, the integration can proceed before a transmission connection to the
network has been established – as normal.
The integration of an LTE eNodeB and DUS41 is done using a local copy of the common upgrade
package and site specific files on a local laptop. Before starting the integration, connect all the RF
tails and TMA’s or fibres/RRU’s etc..
A new version of the Element Manager available, if access to the DUS41 is required post L18Q3IP5
integration. However for the integration itself, the original Element Manager must still be used.
It is a mandatory requirement that all RRU’s, CPRI SFP’s and fibres have been tested as described
in AEO-9896 RBS6000 Optic Testing Process, this should be done after the “Local” Manual
integration is complete and before the T-NIC have been contacted to finalise the process. It is OK to
do this testing while the DUS’s are connected to the SIU-02 / network.
If the Backhaul transmission or the Site Specific files are not available it is still possible to activate
CPRI SFP ports for optic testing of RRU’s via the use of dummy scripts via 06 Dummy Script
Loading Process.
If the design stipulates that IP security (IPSec) is required to be enabled on the eNodeB (RBS6501 or
RBS6302 etc.), then the IPSec certificate enrolment steps in this section must be performed prior
to continuing the normal integration procedures.
If IPSec is not required, do not complete the IPSec certificate enrolment steps in this section, instead
jump to section 5.2 - Manual Integration.
For the IPSec procedure to work, the eNodeB must be able to contact the Certificate Authority (CA)
server within the Telstra Mobiles network and request an IPSec certificate to be sent back to the
eNodeB. Therefore a transmission link via an SIU must be connected and established.
The SIU-02 must be loaded with the site configuration file so that the Ethernet port becomes active.
The CAT6 or Optic cable from the required SIU-02 Port must be connected to the TNA or TNB port
of eNodeB.
Open the Element Manger, enter 169.254.1.10 in the Address connect box and press “Connect”
Open the Tools menu.
Press Integrate RBS...
The 6501 & 6302 have an auto-integration feature that attempts to start the Integration wizard when
the 6501/6302 is first powered up and/or after Basic Package load. If auto-integration has started,
please click the Cancel integration button and click Yes to the pop up window.
After cancellation, DO NOT continue with the Integrate RBS process until after the IPSec pre steps
have been completed, as per below.
Once auto-integration has been cancelled, verify that no IPSec certificate currently exists on the
eNode. Change EM view to Containment (MOM based), expand IpSystem=1 and click/select
IpSec=1. In the MO Properties tab to the right, click the _+_ button next to the “certificate:”
parameter and verify all the certificate parameters are blank.
Launch WinFiol and open a channel to the RBS. See Appendix 6.46 for WinFIOL setup details.
Type rbs rbs and the system will register access and provide a $ prompt.
Locate the site specific CMP Enrolment script on your PC using Windows explorer and drag
and drop the CMP Enrolment script into the WinFiol window to transmit (run) the script.
This script will make the eNodeB contact the Security gateway (SeGW) within the Telstra Mobiles
network and request a IPSec certificate to be made available and sent back to the eNodeB.
Once site specific CMP Enrolment script has been dragged and dropped into the WinFiol
window, a “Dropped file” pop-up window will appear. Click OK to start.
The script will now begin transmitting (running) into the eNodeB. A WinFiol Transmitting pop-up
window will show progress of the script.
Once script has completed, Click on OK in the WinFiol Transmitting pop-up window.
Once the site specific CMP Enrolment script has been run in, verify that the certificate enrolment
has been successful. In Element manager, click the Refresh button at the bottom of the IpSec
parameter window and then verify that the IPSec certificate parameters are now present.
Only continue when the IPSec certificate has been successfully loaded onto the node, as above.
If the certificate is not present on the node after clicking the Refresh button, contact the T-NIC
for advice.
If not already completed as part of IPSec pre-steps above, the SIU-02 must be loaded with the site
configuration file so that the Ethernet port becomes active. The CAT6 or Optic cable from the
required SIU-02 Port must be connected to the TNA or TNB port of the DUS41, RBS6302 or 6501
and both port lights should be on. (If Electrical backhaul transmission is not available at this time, a
Non-IPSec integration can still be completed on site.)
Open Element Manger and Enter 169.254.1.10 in the Address connect box. Press “Connect”
Open the Tools menu.
Press Integrate RBS...
If integration starts automatically before scripts can be loaded, cancel the integration. See section
6.2 for more details.
o The RBS6501 and 6302 small cell have an auto-integration feature that attempts to start the
Integration wizard when the units are first powered up. If auto-integration has started and
not cancelled previously, please click the Cancel integration button and click Yes to the
pop up window.
Browse for both the “Site_Basic.xml” configuration and the “Site_Equipment.xml” configuration files.
Make sure both File paths point to the two respective site specific files required.
License key
For standard integration –Tick the “Do not use license key file.....” box as normal, as no license
is required to be installed yet.
For IPSec integration – leave the “Do not use license key file.....” box unticked, and Browse for
the site specific License Key File (xxxxxxx.lkf)
Upgrade package
Press Browse for the Upgrade Package and steer the File path to select the required package
LTE_DU_SW_Upgrade_Package_L18Q3IP5_R48H16.zip
Keep the photo of the Barcode or EM screenshot info for the T-NIC if required.
If any of the indicators on the left panel are RED go back to that page and correct the data.
If all indicators in left panel are Green, you can start the Integration
! Only if backhaul transmission is “Not” available for standard integration, the progress will stop at 21%.
This is due to Wizard trying to Auto-Detect the transmission port type to be used (TNA or TNB).
Do the following to allow the Wizard to Auto-Detect and configure the Electrical port - TNA:
Do the following to allow the Wizard to Auto-Detect and configure the Optical port - TNB:
o Loop an optic fibre back on itself in the backhaul SFP in the TNB port and wait for the
TNB light to come on, leave looped until 47%
If backhaul/SIU-02 is connected progress will continue straight through to “Upgrade” section which
should be completed in <7 minutes to get to 45%
The integration seesm to stall at HSI for awhile, but then continues with HSI outstanding (which is OK).
Element Manager will lose connectivity at approx. 11 minute. (Press Continue to Restore
Connection)
At approx. 15 minutes Element Manager will get another disconnect window will appear.
Do Not do anything! until the progress bar gets to at least 78% (Notification of OSS). The
Connection Restored window gets to approximately 00:01:19 - 00:01:35 (Down time varies).
Once the progress bar gets to at least 78%, you can then press “Close All”
If you need to access the RBS via the Element Manager after successful integration, the original
Element Manager used for the integration will not work with the upgraded DUS41/RBS – due to changes
on the DUS41/RBS with L18Q3IP5 SW.
Please retain the original Element Manager (it is still required) and download and install the new Element
Manager alongside the original.
(Not essential).
You can connect back into “new” Element Manager and Open the Tools menu.
Press Integrate RBS... and the “Integration finished” window should appear.
Click OK.
! Only use this process if no “Site Specific” files can be obtained from the T-NIC
for RRU fibre testing only. Use the 3 files from Attachments.
Connect laptop to DU and open the new Element Manager (if L18Q3IP5 – R48H16 SW used)
Click on the Main Element Manager Screen
Open the Tools menu.
Press Integrate RBS...
Except for basic_cv, delete all other CV’s and remove them from the Rollback List if required.
If the cable plugged into the RBS6501 becomes stuck (retaining clip was not removed or taped flat), it is
possible to use a jewellers screwdriver to slide in between the wall of port surround and the RJ-45 plug
and press down the retaining clip to allow the removal of the cable from the RJ-45 socket.
