safety person to be escorted with Client’s compliant vehicle driver till it reaches the stock
yard after finishing the unloading process the same team will escort the unloaded vehicle till
Exit to left the site.
14.8.8 Wall blocks are shipped on palette s can be off loaded on site by fork lift or crane.
14.8.9 Construction sequence strictly followed as per manufacture recommendations.
14.8.10 Building walls with thin bed mortar as per manufacture recommendations and methodology
1
attached in attachment. )
14.8.11 The wall base has to be smooth and leveled before starting the application. Sweep the floor
and then apply Premix Cement mortar·
14.8.12 Using string lines as guide lay the first thick bed mortar over the floor.
14.8.13 Align the blocks accurately using a spirit level to check the alignment in each direction.
14.8.14 Taking care to ensure the blocks are true and plumb at this stage will result in fast and
accurate erection of subsequent courses.
14.8.15 Temporarily place AAC blocks in every corner and apply guide rope.
14.8.16 Blocks will be out of dust and dirt.
14.8.17 Mortar for AAC Block work will be Premix mortar (Recommended by manufacturer)- Parex
TB-F (Attachment -5)
14.8.18 Method of using Premix mortar will be as per manufacturers recommendations -
(Attachment-5).

14.8.21 Build the first row by placing the blocks on the leveled base starting from one corner.
14.8.22 Moisturize the first row which is built by cement mortar for better results. It is not necessary
to moisturize the other rows.
14.8.23 Subsequent courses are laid in block bond thin bed mortar to the horizontal and vertical
joints using a trowel.
14.8.24 Over spilled mortar is easily removed while it is wet. Leaving over spilled mortar to go hard
overnight is a sign of poor workman ship but can be easily removed by sanding with a
course grade sand paper.
14.8.25 Bed joint galvanized steel reinforcement mesh/galvanized expanded metal mesh to be used
in the first two courses and after that every alternate course.
14.8.26 Joints between top of the non-load bearing wall and bottom surface of beam or slab subject
to deflection should be filled with compressible material. Width of joint to be mm. If the gap
is more than 20mm, the surface will be leveled with premix mortar to achieve the 200 width
of joint.
14.8.27 Overlapping of the blocks will be at least 150 mm.
14.8.28 The blocks can be cut into smaller pieces if needed. Hand saw and set-square must be used
for culling.
14.8.29 If necessary, level the blocks with in order to get the horizontal joints leveled.
14.8.30 Avoid use of less than half size blocks particularly at corners.
14.8.31 Full block shall be placed below the slab and if any adjustments in thickness block shall be
carried out below the second layer of slab.
14.8.32 Use the approved wall ties every alternate course.
14.8.33 Columns and Block work Fish ties shall be placed every alternative layer
14.8.34 Wall ties shall be provided at junction with concrete walls, columns, beam and slab at a
spacing of 400mm vertically i.e. between each two units.
14.8.35 For conspicuous vertical lines, such as external corners, doorjambs, reveals and expansion
and control joint the plumb shall not be more than 5mm in 6m, nor 6mm maximum.
14.8.36 For vertical alignment of exposed head joints, the plumb shall not be more than 6mm in 3m,
nor 12mm maximum.
14.8.37 Soffits and locations of wall abutting concrete surface of fire rated partitions shall be treated
with approved fire stop material as per manufacturer's recommendations.
14.8.38 All Accessories and filler board and sealant will be used as per approved material/
Recommendations of manufacturer.
14.8.39 Curing required just once after laying AAC blocks after overnight drying moisten the joints
with wet sponge or fine spay water.
Mark the chase outline on wall using either a scribe or pencil. Using either a circular saw or
grinding wheel with depth gauge attached, along the marked lines.
Remove the waste material by breaking it away with chisels or screw driver. Once pipe
work or wiring is installed over using render to match with the rest of the wall.
16 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
The alignment of walls is straight and plumb and free of deflections.
The position of the block wall in the plan of any point in relation to the building reference
shall be ±10mm. Straightness of the block wall in any 5m length shall be within ± 5mm.
AAC Blocks-For conspicuous vertical lines, such as external corners, doorjambs, reveals and
expansion and control joint the plumb shall not be more than 5mm in 6m, nor 6mm
maximum.
AAC Blocks-For vertical alignment of exposed head joints, the plumb shall not be more than
6mm in 3m, nor 12mm maximum.
The setting out match with the drawings.
The joints are even sized and staggered.
The faces of the wall are unblemished and free of the mortar droppings.
