 Waaw-Madd
If a Dhammah-letter is followed by a Waaw, the
sound is stretched twice. The Waaw here is Waaw-

madd.

Notice the sign on Waaw! It is called Sukoon. We
will learn more about it later on.

Less heavy The heaviest

The level of heaviness of the ‫ حروف تفخيم‬is determined based on the

strength of the characteristics of the letter, and all of them have the
lightest letters when using kasra and yaa madd.

‫ ط‬Has the maximum strong characteristics; thus, it is the

heaviest letter in the Arabic alphabet.
