VERBO TO BE

O verbo to be equivale aos verbos ser e/ou estar em português. A conjugação do verbo to be no
presente do indicativo é:

Pronomes Verbo be Forma contraída

I (eu) am (sou, estou) I’m
You (você) are (é, está) You’re
He (ele - homem) is (é, está) He’s
She (ela - mulher) is (é, está) She’s
It (ele/ela) is (é, está) It’s
You (vocês) are (são, estão) We’re
We (nós) are (somos, estamos) You’re
They (eles/ela) are (são, estão They’re

Exemplos:

I am a student. (Eu sou aluno)

They are teachers. (Eles/elas são professores)
We are hungry. (Nós estamos com fome)
Importante:
masculino incluem indistintamente pessoas, animais e objetos.

Exemplos:
She is pretty. (ela é linda – trata-se de uma mulher)
He is handsome. (ele é lindo – trata-se de um homem)
It is pretty.
The dog is big. It is pretty.

2. A segunda pessoa do singular recebe o mesmo tratamento (you are) que a segunda pessoa
do plural (you are).
Exemplos:
You are happy.
