ABOUT US
Woods-Ray Theatricals is a community theatre group founded by Liam Woods in 2015 to create more
theatre and performance opportunities for young people in the Illawarra. Woods-Ray Theatricals has
presented musicals such as The Addams Family, Be More Chill, Anything Goes, CARRIE and The Wizard
of Oz. We are dedicated to providing various forms of theatre opportunities for youth in the Illawarra, as
well as creating quality and affordable entertainment for local theatre patrons.
The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with
a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out
of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and
Leo Bloom as they manoeuvre their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive
"Springtime for Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a
lesson in broad comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional
journey of two very different men who become friends.
The Producers provides opportunities for performers to sink their teeth into a selection of roles - the principal
characters all have large personalities and dynamics to work through, and ensemble members will be enlisted
with a huge scope of characters and will need to be versatile performers who can create multiple unique
characters come to life in the world of Producers.
To ensure the safety of everyone involved, Woods-Ray Theatricals will be conducting our production of The
Producers under a COVIDSafe plan. The COVIDSafe plan affects all aspects of the production, including
