CHAPTER 1
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
What factors cause improper garbage in the Bamboo and Salem communities?
REASON FOR SELECTING AREA OF RESEARCH.

The reason why we chose the topic “Improper Disposal” for our SBA in the communities of
Bamboo and Salem which we have been living in for the past 15 years. We want to explore how
improper disposal of garbage affects our community because we realized that is causes a lot of
danger and problems in our community such as weird smells when garbage is not disposed of
properly, people also argue because they’re throwing the garbage in front their house or
somewhere near to where they live on the ground. We are investigating garbage disposal because
we want to help others to properly dispose of garbage because of the harm and danger it can
cause to others especially our children , exploring this topic will teach us more about how
improper disposal of garbage an cause a lot of harm without even knowing , improper disposal of
garbage can cause pollution or contamination.
METHOD OF INVESTIGATION
In order to effectively conduct this research, the researchers decided to utilize the usage of the
questionnaire. Researchers decided to use the questionnaire method as it has numerous
advantages that can eliminate the pressure on both parties (researchers and respondents).
The advantages include:
• It is less time consuming

• It can be done to the convenience of the respondents.
• It is strictly confidential as participants' identity is not disclosed.
Given the fact that the country is faced with a pandemic, as a group, we dispensed the
questionnaires using Google Form. This was done to eliminate researchers’ exposures to the
virus.
CHAPTER 2
DATA COLLECTION INSTRUMENT
Investigation on the Improper Disposal of Garbage in the Community of Bamboo, St. Ann. Dear

This is an investigation being carried out in the community of Bamboo and Salem to highlight
the effects of Improper Disposal of Garbage in the community. This research is also a partial
fulfillment of our Social Studies School Based Assessment (SBA). We are however requesting
your full participation in assisting us to complete this course. We the researchers, are requesting
that you respond to the following questions honestly and truthfully. You are not required to
attach your names to the questionnaires so no one will know who responded to each

PROCEDURE OF COLLECTING DATA

A total of twenty (20) questionnaires were prepared and submitted to participants via WhatsApp.
It was expected that all twenty completed samples would have been returned using the same
Medium. We the researchers decided to take into perspective that the country is being faced
with a pandemic and as result we decided to eliminate both researchers and participants
exposure by simply selecting our participants from our contacts in our mobile phone. After the
selections of our participants were made; we submitted our instruments to collect data and also
provided them with any added explanation while highlighting that if they need clarity, they
could always reach out to the researchers via WhatsApp.
CHAPTER 3
PRESENTATION OF DATA
The questionnaires were dispensed via WhatsApp on December 21, 2021 at approximately
6;43pm. A total of 20 questionnaires were submitted and all twenty were returned. Each
questionnaire had a total of 15 questions relating to the topic. The questionnaires were sent in a
random manner as we could only get community members that were not busy. A total of 13
women and 7 men answered the questionnaire.
