2. Make a list of the available tools. With the help of your parents, ask
assistance in naming their functions and uses. Write your answer on
the table provided.

Activity 3

Use of Gardening/Farm Tools


What are farm tools?
 Farm tools - objects that are usually light and utilized without
the help of animals and machines:
 Farm tools, implements, and equipment play a significant role
in agricultural crop production. Their availability makes the
work much easier and faster. But if one does not know how to
use them, these tools are useless.
 We must know these tools to make use of our times during the
quarantine period.
 To make out time productive, let us use these tools to plant or
start a garden.
HAND TOOLS
Familiarize yourself with the tools presented here. Some of them might be
available in your home already. To do crop production or gardening, one
must have an excellent working knowledge of the tools, implements, and
equipment before using them.

Hand tools are usually light and used without the help of animals or
machines. They perform farm activities that involve small areas like the
school or home garden.

growing plants and putting manure in
the soil
Hand Used for cultivating the garden plot

PROPER USE OF SHOVEL

Activity 5
A shovel is used in different farm operations like digging and moving soil
from one place to another, cleaning ditches, etc. Proper use of this tool can
help make the work easier.
PPE and Tools needed:
 Footwear
 Long pants
 Gloves
 Rag
 Shovel
Procedures:

Make sure that before you perform this activity, you are wearing appropriate
personal protective equipment. Follow these instructions
1. Keep feet wide apart. Place front foot close to shovel

2. Put weight on the front foot. Use a leg to push the shovel.

3. Shift weight to the rear foot. Keep the load close to the body

4. Turn feet in the direction of the throw

5. Perform housekeeping
