Statement of Purpose

I have always been intrigued and inquisitive about anything that goads logical reasoning,
especially about the way a computer-system functions. To expand my knowledge on computers
and Information technology, I took up Computer Science as a major for my undergraduate degree
of Engineering.

In the third year of my undergraduate degree, I successfully completed a major project titled
“Internet Management System”. Its goal was to provide a productive, powerful and secure internet
environment to students and staff-members while using Internet. The software developed could
intercept and analyze a large amount of data that crosses through the internet in the network to
obtain the desired intelligence. This allowed a significant improvement in bandwidth utilization
ensuring better Internet speed. This was my significant encounter with data analytics and filtering
and it came as an innovative and experiential learning. This venture also broadened my knowledge
and introduced me to a perspective of application of Computer Science and Administration.

When I was on the threshold of completing my Bachelor’s degree, Wipro Technologies visited our
campus for recruitments and after undergoing a challenging selection process, I was hired as a
Project Engineer. After clearing various assessments and successfully completing a rigorous
training of 3 months, I joined a project team at Wipro SEZ, Hyderabad. At present, I am working
in an Automation project for the Clients who focus on various Automation Solutions.

Manual monitoring of alerts and report creation was a tedious and time-consuming task in my
team. I automated this manual report creation process by using python. Before the automation,
report creation used to take one hour to complete. But, after the automation this report was
generated in a few seconds without any human-intervention. This has helped me immensely
understand the characteristics of the multi-tier architecture of servers and how data is distributed
at datacenters in different locations. I have been generating and customizing Reports related to the
Application Reliability, Security, Availability and Performance using bots. Apart from this, I also
created a web application that enables/disables interfaces (tasks) and displays interface log. Two
years of my working stint with Wipro and the major project in my academic career have prepared
me to undertake Master of Science in computer science as a major in my Post graduate studies.

Having spoken about my academic and professional interests, I would now like to talk a bit about
my avocations. I love playing chess and real time strategy computer games. During the second
year of my undergraduate studies, I took part in an Inter-college chess tournament held at the
annual festival hosted by my university. Only 10 participants reached the final round among 250
students who enrolled in it and I grabbed the first prize of a prestigious trophy and a cash amount
of 10k. I also took interest in the leadership roles of coordinating and managing various city-level
events.
One of such events was called SLOVA. My responsibilities were to manage accommodation for
the participants and as a game coordinator I was evaluating games. It came with a challenge as we
had more participant than expected. I was able to manage it by conducting best of one elimination
round which helped us to maintain the number of participants and the event was a big success.
Here, I learnt that how to work in a team and how to manage resources in optimum manner.

Therefore, I strive for a such a higher studies program beyond the borders with best resources,
ideas, efficiencies and services with an endless stream of global opportunities that would provide
an in-depth knowledge in Computer Science and automation, to equip myself to acquire higher
level of technical skills, critical and analytical thinking and interdisciplinary skills to tackle the
most diverse and intricate issues of the corporate world. I realize that the corporate landscape is
changing constantly with the impact of IT and globalization and a Master’s degree in Computer
Science will enrich my professional career by transforming me into a competent professional
highly adaptable to the fast changing milieu. Having identified my strengths, after extensive
research, I found that the Professional Master’s Program in Computer Science, Big Data
Specialization offered by Simon Fraser University is a perfect match in terms of excellent physical
and academic infrastructure, highly experienced faculty with research oriented culture, best
curriculum and delivery system with international network for placements and Alumni network
around the globe. I really look forward to pursue Masters from this prestigious institution as I yearn
to be a Senior Engineer in the future ready to respond to the current changing dynamics and
unprecedented challenges emerging in the future environment as a sustainable technical solutions
