This study examines the impact of e-learning on the academic performance of mathematics students at Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges during the 2020-2021 school year. The researcher interviewed 8 students who experienced e-learning. The results showed that e-learning had both positive and negative impacts. Positively, e-learning improved self-dependence, discipline, time management, technology skills, and access to online resources. However, e-learning also had challenges like poor internet, unsupportive teachers, and distractions that hindered academic performance. The researcher concluded that schools should address e-learning issues and support student needs to maximize its benefits.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of e-learning on

academic performance of BSED-Mathematics students who are enrolled in the

school year 2020-2021 at Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges. This research

used a qualitative case study to answer the questions that framed this study.

There were eight (8) participants who underwent the in-depth interview. They

were the chosen 2nd year and 3rd year BSED-Mathematics students from Ramon

Magsaysay Memorial Colleges. The participants were chosen because all of

them experienced e-learning this school year. The generated theme revealed

that there are positive and negative impacts of e-learning to the academic

performance of the participants. The participants revealed that self-dependence,

self-discipline and responsibility, more time to study and do school works,

utilization of technology, and access to online resources are the positive impacts

of e-learning to their academic performance. On the other hand, participants also

revealed that they experienced poor internet connection, inconsiderate and

unapproachable teachers, and distractions that have negative impacts to their

academic performance. Hence, the school administrators, teachers and the

parents should address and fix all the issues that students experienced in e-

learning and look into their learning needs by providing support intended for

them.
