I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
a. Identify action words;
b. Recognize action words used in retelling stories;
c. Determine the used of verbs; and
d. Construct sentences using common verbs.

A. Preparatory Activities

Last meeting we have discussed about noun.
What is noun?
Noun is a word refer to a name of a person, animals, place, things, feelings or
ideas.

B. Developmental Activities
Spelling time
Get your spelling notebook because we will be having a spelling time.

C. Motivation
I have here some visitors.

Say their names and let’s imitate their moves.

D. Activity
I need three groups with three members. We are going to have a simple game.
I have here a sets of words for each group. I need each member to arrange the
word and form it in a sentence.
Sentence:
1. My dog jumped over the terrace.
2. Erick reads a book.
3. Ana baked her favorite cookies.
Very good. You completed the sentence correctly.

E. Analysis
I will be showing you a pictures.

What do you see in the first picture?


The first picture shows a child writing.
What do you see in the second picture?
The second picture shows a child washing his hands.
What do you see in the third picture?
The third picture shows children playing in the playground.

F. Abstraction
All of those pictures are showing an actions, and that is called,
Action word or verb tells what someone or something is doing.
Another example:
Eat dance sing jump
Drink sleep walk hop
In a sentence, action words usually appear like this:
Ex. Ernest walks to the store.
Walks is the action or verb because it tells what Ernest does.
Do you understand?
I will give you another example.

Look at the pictures. Read the sentences. Identify what is being done in the
picture.

1. The boy eats breakfast early.

2. Ina washes her face daily.

3. Tony plays his musical instrument very well.

4. Mother cooks my favorite dish every morning.

5. Tony writes a poem when he is happy.

G. Application
Divide the class into three groups and answer the given task.
Each group will be given an answer sheets, inside are the learning task. Assign
members to answer the following learning task.

Read the story and look for the verbs. List them down below.
My Fruitful Quarantine Days
Since I stopped going to school because of the pandemic, I asked my mother how I
could help her at home. She said I could start by picking my dirty clothes and putting
them in the laundry area where she washes our clothes every day. She also added that
I could help her by peeling some vegetables she would use to cook our favorite food.
My mother also asked me to clean and organize my toys in the cabinet.
Mother also reminded me that before leaving the bedroom in the morning, I should fix
our beddings. I also help my brother and sister in washing the dishes, and in preparing
the table before and after meals. Even though I don’t go to school every day, I still read
my books and write something on my notes. I also draw and paint different animals,
flowers and superheroes that I see in my books. These are things that I do every day to
have a fruitful quarantine days.
