Introduction
Grilon® is the brand name for engineering plastics Due to their excellent properties, these materials can be
based on polyamide 6 and polyamide 66 and manu- used in a wide variety of application segments such as
factured by EMS-GRIVORY. the automotive industry, electrical / electronic techno-
logy, sport and leisure as well as in mechanical engi-
With the manufacture of special polyamide 6 + polyam- neering.
ide 66 alloys, EMS-GRIVORY has succeeded in further
improving the already outstanding properties of Grilon. The various Grilon grades differ from each other accord-
ing to the type and composition of the basic polymers
The products in this group are semi-crystalline poly- as well as their modification with stabilisers, processing
amide materials characterised by the following proper- aids and reinforcing materials (minerals, glass, carbon
ties: and steel fibres).

What is particularly remarkable is, that the increase in Grilon TSGL reinforced with long glass fibres also ex-
notched impact strength does not result in any loss in hibits an excellent heat deflection temperature. Com-
stiffness. This is not possible in the case of conventional pared to Grilon TSG, the heat deflection temperature in
impact-modified products because their elastomer com- accordance with ISO 75C (8 MPa) is 30°C to 40°C
ponents absorb energy which always leads to a loss in higher.
stiffness.
The fibre-felt structure increases the resistance to crack-
ing. Compared to materials reinforced with short glass
fibres, the propagation of cracks is substantially re-
