NOTICE
Using Robert Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction, what did you notice in the
following segments of learning:

• How did the students react to the activities/ various

elements to arouse their interest?
I think I arouse their interest because the students were listening attentively and
participating in the class and cooperating with me as their teacher.

• Were the students focused when you were stating the

learning objectives at the beginning of the lesson?
Yes, the students were focused when I am stating the objectives and I also let them
read the objectives so that they can understand and will be reminded on what they
will going to do.

• How did the new learnings relate with what they really
know?
The flow of the lesson or shall I say learning is continuing and not jumping to new
lesson that the students don't have prior learning. The new learning or lesson were
connected from the previous lesson, from lines to shapes. So, students apply what
they've learned in the past to current activities.

• Did you notice some students who needed assistance? What

did you do?
Some students are not paying attention and some are not active in the class, what I
do is providing group activities. So that, all students will be part of the
teaching-learning process and in that way can share their ideas to their group and
also they become on task.

• Did the students find difficulty in applying the

theories/concepts learned to real life?
When I saw the results of their activities or assessment, there are some students
find difficulty in applying concepts learned to real life.

• How did your students react to your feedback?

After my lesson and activities, I give my feedback on their performances on how
some of them excelled in the activities and some of them needs assistance and what
they need to improve more so that next time they receive a perfect score.

• What pieces of evidence can prove that the students had

retention of learning”?
Based on the performances they show in exams, quizzes, assignments, activities and
tasks that the teacher gave also on how they approach in certain situations and how
they apply it in the classroom.

ANALYZE
After planning your lesson, you may be requested by your Resource Teacher to
deliver the lessons). Your Resource Teacher will use a classroom observation sheet
to evaluate the delivery of your lesson (s) Schools use different tools in rating

delivery
 Overall impression of teaching effectiveness:
Based on my understanding, teaching effectiveness is the outcome of the
teacher’s successful and careful planning and delivery of instruction and
assessment of learning as well. We can say that his or her teaching was effective if
the learning objectives were achieved and the needs of the students were met also.

REFLECT
Having implemented several lessons in your Cooperating School under the
supervision of your Cooperating Teacher, in what areas of the lesson do you need to
improve?
I think the areas that I need to improve are utilizing appropriate instructional
materials, sequencing and organizing the delivery of lesson, engaging the students
to participate in the class, as well as how to effectively provide constructive
criticism on their strengths and flaws.

Write Action Research Prompts

OBSERVE
Problems / challenges I encountered in delivering my lessons was capturing the
interests and attention of the learners.

REFLECT
I hope to achieve to address these problems and challenges by evaluating the
effectiveness of my teaching methods and improving it through employing methods
that are effective and attracts the students’ interest and attention.
PLAN
Some strategies/solutions/means that I can employ to improve these situations /
problems
1. question & answer method: this method is useful by 3 ways
a. if an easy question is asked to an average student, encourage him to give
answer. After answer, his confidence level will be boost and he give more attention
towards teaching.
b. few questions are challenging which liked by above average, clever students. So
that they also concentrate in lecture through they understand the topic early than
others.
c. teacher-student interaction is possible and class become more alive.
2. Discussion method
3. Role play method
4. Game method
ACT
Based on my answer in nos. 1-3, the possible title of my action research in this
episode is
“Effectiveness of Teaching Methods in Getting the Attention and Interests of the
Learners”

To further enrich my knowledge on delivering my instruction whether in the

classroom or in remote learning, these are some of the online resources which will
help me in these activities. (includes books, websites, you tube videos and the like
and share these to your peers.)
