NEW ARMOR
Also see “New Armor Rules” below for further explanations.
A Blast Vest may be worn over Heavy Clothing and a Helmet added to remove the Exposed quality (both needed). In
addition to their added cost, the Heavy Clothing adds its 1 to Encumbrance, but does not provide any additional Soak or
Hard Points (they don’t stack).
Blast Vest with Helmet & Heavy Clothing: Defense 0, Soak 1/2 versus Kinetic, Hard Points 1, 400 credits, Encumbrance 3.
Defense: 0.
Soak: 1/2 versus Kinetic only.
Hard Points: 1.
Price: 250 credits.
Encumbrance: 2.
Rarity: 3.
HEAVY TORSO
A heavy, solid, chest plate worn without supporting limb cover. This is similar to hardened chest pieces of Heavy Battle
Armor, but tosses extra armor plating for more freedom of movement at a cost to protection. Due to large areas of the
body being unprotected, the armor has the Exposed quality even if a helmet is worn.
Heavy Torso armor may be worn over Heavy Clothing and a Helmet added to remove the Exposed quality (both needed).
In addition to their added cost, Heavy Clothing adds 1 to Encumbrance, but does not provide any additional Soak (it
doesn’t stack).
Heavy Torso with Helmet & Heavy Clothing: Defense 0, Soak 2, Hard Points 2, 900 credits, Encumbrance 4.
Heavy Torso armor may also be worn over a Space Suit (light) to allow Vacuum Seal, but since Space Suit (light) also has
the Exposed quality, this adds to Encumbrance and still suffers the Exposed quality.
Heavy Torso with Space Suit (light): Defense 0, Soak 2, Hard Points 2, 950 credits, Encumbrance 5, Exposed.
Defense: 0.
Soak: 2.
Hard Points: 2.
Price: 750 credits.
Encumbrance: 3.
Rarity: 5.
LIGHT TORSO
A light, solid, chest plate worn without supporting limb cover. This is similar to hardened chest pieces of Laminate, but
tosses extra armor plating for more freedom of movement at a cost to protection. Due to large areas of the body being
unprotected, the armor has the Exposed quality even if a helmet is worn.
Light Torso armor may be worn over Heavy Clothing and a Helmet added to remove the Exposed quality (both needed),
but its protection would still be equal to the Heavy Clothing alone so there would be no discernible benefit while adding
cost and weight.
Light Torso armor is more commonly worn over a Space Suit (light) to allow Vacuum Seal, but since Space Suit (light) also
has the Exposed quality, this adds to Encumbrance and still suffers the Exposed quality. However, the higher Hard Points
of the Space Suite are gained. It’s only benefit over Space Suit (medium) is a lower Encumbrance and Cost with less Hard
Points and the Exposed quality.
Light Torso w/Space Suit (light): Defense 0, Soak 1, Hard Points 2, 700 Credits, Encumbrance 3, Exposed.
Defense: 0.
Soak: 1.
Hard Points: 1.
Price: 500 credits.
Encumbrance: 1.
Rarity: 3.
HELMET (OPEN)
A very common helmet that protects the head, but does not cover the face. This could be a combat “blast” helmet or an
engineer’s protective helmet. An Open Helmet does not suffer from the Obscuring quality. But, it can’t be sealed as part
of a Vacuum Sealed suit or contain an Internal Respirator (nothing prevents the wearer from donning a normal
Respirator, however).
Price: 100 credits.
Encumbrance: 2.
Rarity: 1.
HELMET (FULL)
A heavier combat helmet that covers the entire head. This helmet has the Obscuring 1 quality. It may be sealed for
Vacuum Sealed suits and also receives a -10 adjust to any Critical Injury rolls.
Price: 300 credits.
Encumbrance: 2.
Rarity: 3.
HELMET (BUBBLE)
A favorite amongst spacers who are more concerned with a vacuum seal and ability to see easily then protection. A large
viewing dome results in no Obscuring quality, but the wearer is still considered Exposed even with the helmet donned.
However, the helmet allows a Vacuum Sealed suit to be sealed.
Price: 200 credits.
Encumbrance: 2.
Rarity: 2.
I thought the Space Suit included in Core was not expanded upon or detailed enough for Star Wars. In such a space
faring universe, the selection of space suits should be plentiful and varied. I thus split the Space Suit into two classes:
light or medium. I also re-categorized them as Armor (instead of Gear) and given them hard points for further
customization.
Similarly, I decided to split the basic AEG into three varieties based upon commonly encountered environments.
Enhancing AEGs and Space Suits made Padded Armor somewhat of a red-headed step child. I added a single Hard Point
to Padded Armor after looking over all of the armor attachments. I found nothing which Padded Armor could have
attached that didn’t seem inappropriate.
The name Padded Armor also seemed a misnomer when you look at its description and various visual representations. I
changed the name to Ballistic Mesh. Note that the padded look of the armor worn by Rebel troops on Hoth is either an
AEG or Ballistic Mesh with the Insulated attachment.
HELMETS
Most armors have helmets, but a few don’t. Helmets are considered a piece of gear, not actual armor. Not wearing a
helmet gives a target the Exposed 1 quality (+10 to Critical Injury rolls) which stacks with other Exposed sources or is
removed by the Protected quality. A helmet requires a Maneuver to don or remove, even if just opening up a viewport.
The armor table lists the default helmet that it comes with – None, Open Helmet, Full Helmet, Battle Helmet, or Bubble
Helmet. This helmet is included in the cost of the armor and can later be swapped with a different one with a later
purchase. The Encumbrance listed for a helmet is if it is carried. Worn helmets have no Encumbrance.
In addition to alleviating the Exposed quality, some helmets allow the benefits of a Vacuum Sealed armor or the Blast
Visor attachment, when applicable. If the wearer removes or opens up his helmet, the vacuum seal or blast visor
attachment affects would be temporarily lost.
Battle Helmet: A fully enclosed helmet with only a small viewport. Protected 1 (-10 to Critical Injury rolls) but also
Obscuring 2. Can be Vacuum Sealed and can accept the Blast Visor attachment.
Bubble Helmet: A fully enclosed helmet with a large viewport. Exposed 1, but can be Vacuum Sealed and can accept the
Blast Visor attachment.
Full Helmet: A fully enclosed helmet with a large viewport. Can be Vacuum Sealed and can accept the Blast Visor
attachment. Does not give Exposed or Protected qualities, but does give Obscuring 1.
No Helmet: Exposed 1.
Open Helmet: A helmet that only protects the dome of the head. No Exposed 1 quality, but can’t be Vacuum Sealed. It
can accept the Blast Visor attachment.

Ballistic Armor
Some armors have exposed critical areas while others have fully protected critical areas. These armors received the new
Exposed or Protected qualities. Exposed and Protected qualities stack with like qualities. For example, a person wearing
armor that provides Exposed 1 while removing a helmet giving Exposed 1 results in a net of Exposed 2. Exposed and
Protected qualities also cancel each other out. A person wearing Protected 1 armor who removes his helmet, receiving
Exposed 1, has a net of no Protected or Exposed quality.
Example: Down-Armored attachment with No Helmet would give Exposed 2. Heavy Torso with a Battle Helmet would
have a net effect of no adjustments to the critical injury roll (Exposed 1 of Heavy Torso cancelled by Protected 1 of Battle
Helmet).
