CONTENTS
Contractor shall develop a schedule of heavy lifts and loads and shall fully investigate
and determine suitable Pakistan ports for receipt of such loads/cargo;
Contractor shall provide a dedicated Heavy Lift Specialist at the Work Site for the co-
ordination, management and control of all heavy lifts. The selection and assignment of
such Heavy Lift Specialist shall be subject to Company review and approval;
Contractor shall ensure that only experienced and capable heavy lift and transportation
specialist subcontractors are employed in the works or receipt and transportation of such
heavy and oversized loads from port/point of entry or other locations and onto the
worksite final location(s).
1.4 Classification
Contractor shall classify and agree all heavy and oversize loads with Company using
best Oil & Gas Industry practices, but as a general ruling classification will be
determined as:
Heavy loads are those that are in a specific unit in excess of 20 tones;
Oversize loads are those of dimensions that exceed 40 ft long x 10 ft wide and
10 ft high;
Items or loads where the operation to transport them to and/or place them at
their point of installation requires special attention and/or precautions to be
considered and implemented due to the proximity of transportation route, and or
point of installation to Existing Facilities.
1.5 Transportation
Contractor shall survey and submit full details of transportation Routings, for all
heavy and oversize loads transported within Pakistan and from Pakistan
ports/point of entry to the worksite final location(s);
Contractor shall be responsible for carrying out all necessary route surveys
from docks and other locations to worksite locations and any/all additional
requirements to fully satisfy him of safe routings, and access conditions and
shall allow for it in his proposal;
Contractor shall carry out any necessary permanent or temporary strengthening
of infrastructure items, road construction(s), the removal, replacement of
street/road furniture, fixings, fencing, structures and buildings;
Contractor shall arrange for all necessary permits, licenses and notifications to
Government Authorities and Company concerning movements/transport and
any arrangements required for transporting such heavy and oversized loads
along the highways and roads from ports/point of entry and other locations to
the worksite final locations;
Contractor shall submit full details of its proposals for management of heavy
and oversized loads with a schedule of anticipated items;
In the execution of the works, Contractor shall provide details of schemes,
transportation equipment and configuration, plans, loading data, road and
bridge bearing stresses, safety precautions and attendance and schedules for
prior approval and shall allow adequate time for the approval of plans by
Company;
Contractor shall update schedules weekly and shall give a minimum of (seven)
7 days, or other specified time, written notice to all concerned Authorities,
Organizations and other Contractors whose access or operations may be
affected by these activities.
1.6 Erection
Contractor shall prepare comprehensively illustrated studies for Company
approval for each lift in excess of 20 tones and for lifts of lesser weight that, due
to access to their point of installation, require special consideration;
Studies shall be fully detailed with the weight and dimensions of the equipment
including any appurtenances, characteristics of the main lift and tailing cranes
Contractor shall ensure that all its employees and those of its Subcontractor are fully
familiar with and fully comply with all safety regulations and good working practices
applicable both at the worksite and in general lifting operations.
The Company policy is to give the utmost importance to the health, safety, environment
and security of all personnel working on the project and others who may be affected by
its activities.
