Flowsheet:

Solution:
Aspen Simulation Workbook (ASW) excel integration add-in allows
exporting data from excel to the process simulation software where data
would be processed and results could be sent back to excel for analysis
and visualization.

In order to ensure effective utilization of the data available from the plant,
Microsoft Excel will be acting as a hub between the plant data retrieved
from the data historian system (DCS, OSI PI, Aspen IP21, ….etc.) and
the process simulation case.

scenario table to calculate the compressor power and polytropic
efficiency for each data point from the data set.

In order to start sending/receiving the data from the simulation case we

have to make sure that Aspen Simulation workbook add-in is active.

If tab is not shown in the Ribbon, follow the hereinafter screenshots:

- From start menu search for Aspen Excel Add-In Manager:

Make sure that the add-in checkbox is checked.

ASW V10 and earlier can be only configured on Excel 32-bit.

ASW V10.1, 11, 11.1 and above is compatible with both 32 & 64 bit.

- Go to Excel options:

Now, we can start linking the simulation case to Excel via ASW:
- Enable ASW

- After enabled, browse the simulation file:

- Select the pre-built case:

- Make sure that all data points with active (* asterisk) are valid,
cases with data quality issues should be deactivated and not
selected by removing the (*) from active column as follows:

- In order to run the active scenarios/cases point the mouse cursor to

at any cell inside the scenario table, then go to Table Actions and
from RHS select Run Active Scenarios:
