Update SCA-W software
Perform these steps to update your existing Secure Configuration Assistant for Windows® (SCA-W)
to the latest version.
This procedure updates the software on the USB drive that came
with your purchase of the SCA-W. If you have more than one SCA-W,
perform this procedure on each SCA-W USB drive
1. Insert the USB drive that contains the SCA-W application into a PC.
IMPORTANT: If you already have the SCA-W USB drive inserted into the PC before you begin this
procedure, then you must remove the USB drive and re-insert it.
3. In the top navigation bar, select Supportˇ and from the dropdown list click Downloads. The Firmware
and Software Repositories download page displays.
4. Scroll through the page to SCA. Click Show Downloads. The SCA download page displays.
5. Either click the button or the filename of the latest SCA-W update package.zip file.
6. Open the zip file and extract the files. The package contains the following three folders:
ASRM, SCA-W updater, and Serial USB host drives.
7. Open the SCA-W updater folder, it contains the following files: SCAUpdater.exe and SPWLib.dll
8. Right-click on the SCAUpdater.exe file and from the dropdown list select Run as administrator.
9. During the update, the Utimaco logo displays and the PC emits sounds associated with the mounting
and unmounting of the SCA-W drive. When the update completes, the Update Complete message
displays.
The SCA-W is now mounted and visible in your File Explorer window.
10. Click the SCA-W.exe file to launch the application. When the application is loaded, you have access to
the SCA-W User Guide.
Click About to view the software version of the application. This version number reflects the version
number indicated in the updater package.
1. Navigate to the directory on the Windows PC where you stored the SCA-W software download file, and
then double-click on the ASK Update Firmware.exe file. The Atalla Secure Keypad Firmware Updater
window displays.
2. Attach the ASK to a Windows PC by inserting the USB 2.0 to Micro-B interface cable into a USB port on
the PC, and then insert the Micro-B connector into the ASK.
3. The ASK powers on and displays the Welcome screen. Immediately press the function key (FN) on the
ASK. On an older ASK model, the function key looks like this:
4. The factory mode menu displays. Press the number 1 to LOAD FIRMWARE, the ASK displays the
message WAITING FOR FIRMWARE UPDATE.
5. At the PC, click the Connect button, which is located near the bottom of the Atalla Secure Keypad
Software Updater window. A popup message displays indicating that the program has successfully
connected the PC and the ASK devices. Click OK to close the popup message.
6. Click the Update ASK Firmware button, which is located at the bottom of the Atalla Secure Keypad
Software Updater window. The ASK displays the message LOADING FIRMWARE.
7. Wait one minute for the firmware to install. When it completes, the ASK displays the message
PLEASE RESTART.
8. Disconnect the Micro-B connector from the ASK, wait a few seconds, and then insert the Micro-B
connector into the ASK. The ASK displays the message INSTALLING FIRMWARE.
9. When the firmware is installed the ASK displays the following message:
FIRMWARE INSTALLED
VERSION = xxxx (where xxxx is the ASK firmware version)
PRESS OK TO EXIT
11. The upgrade procedure is complete. You can now attach the ASK to the PC on which the SCA-W is
installed.
