being an active learner.
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part
of the module. Use your Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM)
activity notebook.
2. Don’t forget to answer What I Know before moving on to the other
activities included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks in checking your
answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.

This module was prepared to help you achieve the required competency
and the source of information for you to acquire knowledge and skills in
Selecting Electrical Measuring Tools and Instruments with minimum
supervision or help from your parent/guardian/teacher. With the aid of this
material, you will acquire the competency independently at your own pace.
This module consists of one (1) Learning Outcome (LO) that contains
learning activities for both knowledge and skills supported with information
sheets. Work through all the information and complete the activities in each
section. Read all information sheets and complete all the activities given,
suggested references are included to supplement the materials provided in this
module.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of this lesson, you are expected to:
LO1 Identify object or component to be measured;
LO2 Choose test instruments to be used for specific tasks;
LO3 Identify alternative measuring tools without sacrificing cost and quality of
work.
1. Is it _____________________?
2. Is it _____________________?
3. Is the piece count _________?
4. _________ is responsible for requesting inspection for damaged goods and
packaging
5. _________shipment if it isn't yours, if the shipment does not meet the terms
specified by your agency, or is damaged to the point where it no longer has a
value.
Now check your answers using the Answer Key. What is your score?
Measurement is the process or the result of determining the ratio of a physical
quantity, such as a length, time, temperature, etc., to a unit of measurement,
such as the meter, second or degree Celsius. The science of measurement is
called metrology.
The English word measurement originates from the Latin mēnsūra and the
verb metiri through the Middle French mesure.
This lesson will discuss the function/use of each measuring tool or equipment
used in electrical wiring installations as well as how to connect/use them properly
to avoid damage of these tools and equipment.
Common Electrical Measuring Tools and Instruments
1. Pull-Push Rule is a measuring tool used to measure the length of an
object in centimeter or inches.
5. Test Light is a pocket size tool used to test the line wire or circuit if there is an
electric current in it.

9. Volt-Ohm Milliammeter (VOM) otherwise called as Multi-tester; is used to
measure the voltage, resistance and current of a circuit. It is connected in
parallel or series with the circuit depending on what to measure.
Directions: Match the electrical measuring tools and instruments in Column A
to their corresponding uses in Column B. Write the letter of your answer in your
activity notebook.
