4. Environmental
5. Vulnerability of each exposed element.

B. Performance Standard

corresponding corrective actions for one’s preparedness.

- Enumerate elements exposed to hazards.
(DRR11/12-I-c-7)

others (. DRR11/12-Ic-9)
D. Specific Lesson Objectives: at the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

2. Demonstrate the various elements that affect exposure and
vulnerability and;
3. Appreciate efforts of the government aim to address the implications of
potential changes in the frequency, intensity, and duration of weather and climate events that
affect the risk of extreme impacts human society.

Teaching Principle 1: Establish a Rapport Between the Students and the Teacher
One of the most overlooked things when it comes to teaching and learning is the rapport between
the teacher and student. Running a tight ship is not a principle of effective teaching. The students
must feel at ease and they should feel comfortable. They shouldn’t feel as though they are strapped
to the chair.

Teaching Principle 2: Motivation and Inspiration

More often than not, students feel demotivated. They don’t feel like studying or doing the work.
Teachers must reaffirm their faith and inspire them to do better. This is another important principle
of teaching.  When it comes to principles of teaching, motivating and inspiring students, makes it to
the chart because one of the primary concerns of teachers is to shape the flow of the class/session.

ACTIVITY

Procedure:
1. Divide the class into three groups.
2. Assign each group a different topic to discuss
3. Each group will be going to make a graphic organizer or diagram to
explain the topic out from the information sheet. (5 minutes
discussion)

Group 1: Various Elements Exposed to Hazard

Group 2: Vulnerable Sectors
Group 3: Human Factors

Each group will be given freedom to present their output in different way such as talk show, singing,
and news casting. Each group will present 6-7 minutes.

Teaching Principle 3: Creating an active learning environment & develop reciprocity &
cooperation among learners.
A classroom must never be monologed in nature. It should be a platform for dialogues where the
students and teachers are equal participants. In order to foster an active learning environment,
teachers can incorporate activities. An active environment is essential to make learning effective
and efficient. Encourage learners from different races and cultures to share their viewpoints on
topics shared in class.

ANALYSIS
1. How did you find to the activity?
2. Why is it that the Philippines is one of the exposed countries to hazards?

ABSTRACTION
Discussion of the activity through power point presentations

Exposure-refers to the presence of people, livelihood, environmental services and resources,

infrastructure, or economic social, or cultural assets in places that could be adversely affected by
physical events and which, thereby, are subject to potential future.

Various Elements Exposed to Hazards

a. Physical hazard
b. Cultural hazard
c. Economic hazard
d. Environmental hazard

Vulnerability- is the state of susceptibility to harm from exposure to stresses associated with
environmental and social change and from the absence of capacity to adapt.

Vulnerable Sectors Include

a. Agriculture and Food
b. Watersheds
c. Coastal and Marine Resources

Human Factors
 Wealth
 Education
 Governance
 Technology
 Age

APPLICATION
 Guide question: Why do people need to have better understanding about disaster?

Teaching Principle 4: Socratic method

Described as the cornerstone of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solves this inadequacy by
asking a series of focused, open-ended questions that encourage reflection . Socratic questioning
involves a disciplined and thoughtful dialogue between two or more people. It is widely used in
teaching to expose and unravel deeply held values and beliefs that frame and support what we think
and say. By using a series of focused yet open questions, we can unpack our beliefs and those of
others.

EVALUATION
Considering that the Philippines is in the typhoon belt, state at least ten (5) recommendations
that you may suggest to our local authorities as preparatory steps to do before the typhoon
strikes.
ASSIGNMENT
