ASSESSMENT 2

Read a news article and explain how the following principles were achieved.
a. Clarity
- Because CNN Philippines was the one to disseminate the news article, it is reasonable to
assume that individuals who are interested in reading it are older. The article does not make
use of language that is unduly difficult to understand or that is overly specialist. As a direct
consequence of this, having a good comprehension of it is not hard to get. The author is
aware of both the claim that is stated in the article as well as the objective that the article is
trying to accomplish overall. Because of the inherent ambiguity and potential for
misinterpretation that is present in news items written in the manner that was just stated,
the author made the conscious decision not to use any figures of speech, including
metaphors, similes, or any other figures of speech. In addition, the author never resorts to a
flowery expression when a more straightforward one would serve the purpose equally well.
b. Completeness
- Due to the fact that the journalist who wrote the news article provided such a large amount
of information and paid such great attention to detail, the reader is not required to conduct
any more queries. In the opening paragraph, the author provides a synopsis of the purpose
of the article, as well as pertinent background information, like the date, the identity of the
central figure and the speaker, and even the organizations involved and the nature of the
issue. In addition, the whole text of the president's response, which was typed down
verbatim and included in the article, ensures that all relevant information will be
communicated to the audience. In addition to that, the author of the item provided an
explanation of the meaning of the jargon that was utilized in the news report by included it
in the main body of the piece. For instance, the author included an explanation of who was
accountable for putting the policy into action.

c. Correctness
- The tone is appropriate for the news article, the language is interesting, and the content can
be understood without difficulty. By making careful use of the right punctuation marks
throughout the entirety of the article, the author ensured that the text was punctuated
appropriately. He put a period at the end of each word as an example, and he included a
quotation mark after every direct quote that was contained in the article. In addition to that,
the author included both an open and a closed set of parenthesis surrounding each
abbreviation. The author of the news article took into consideration how the reader will
most likely react to the author's message when organizing the article. Additionally, the
author took the time to go through his or her final versions very carefully while keeping an
eye out for errors that are typically made by writers.

d. Conciseness
- When there was an opportunity to use a word that was a great deal simpler to comprehend,
the author chose not to use the more complicated terminology even though it was
available. The content of the news article was well-written and instructive, and it was of a
length that was acceptable for its purpose. It did not delve into a wide range of subject areas
but rather followed the logical flow of the critical issue that was only brought up in the title.
It provided some information and background on the topic at hand while also avoiding
completely diverting from the major problem that was being discussed. This information is
easily digestible, and it avoids the use of any jargon that might be misunderstood due to its
lack of redundant or obscure terminology. The new article as a whole does not include any
redundant repetition or duplication of information in any way.

e. Concreteness
- By keeping President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.'s words in their entirety and
utilizing them verbatim inside the news article, the author creates a feeling of concreteness
within the story. It is a widely held belief that a piece of writing that is interpreted to be
verbatim captures and reflects an inherently fleeting and unrepeatable discursive event that
occurred at a particular point in time and space. This belief is supported by a number of
studies that have been conducted in this area. Verbatim acts as a replacement for long-
lasting indexicality in the cultures of today and materializes the social epistemology of proof,
responsibility, and authenticity. In light of the fact that this is the case, it is reliable and
credible

f. Coherence
- The author took the time to organize all of the information before writing it down, which is
why the news article was easy to follow and understand. The fundamental issue has been
addressed by the author, which was that President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. will
probably maintain the state of public health emergency that was established as a result of
COVID-19 until the end of the year. The author of the article mentioned this in the very first
paragraph of the piece. After that, it went on to discuss the reason for the major subject and
the transcript of the interviewee, who was none other than the President Ferdinand
"Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. After that, it went on to describe the reason for the primary topic
and the transcript of the interviewee. After that, the author provides a detailed presentation
of the data that backs up their claim, as well as an explanation of any jargon or technical
terminology that were used.

g. Courtesy
- The author achieved courtesy for having politeness feature in his/her news article. The
author of the news article decided that, rather than writing it in a critical tone, which would
have been more likely to demoralize the reader, they would write it in a courteous manner
while retaining an optimistic perspective. The author makes an attempt to write in a manner
that is self-assured, courteous, and honest; that makes an effective use of emphasis and
subordination; and that avoids the use of language that is prejudiced towards particular
groups. Furthermore, the author of the news article that was stated before made use of
titles for well-known persons and did not display any form of bias in their writing.
