REMEDIAL INTERVENTION FOR NON-READERS/FRUSTRATION LEVEL LEARNERS IN
GRADE 9

III. TIME FRAME


This is a contextualized material to be adapted and implemented to address the reading and
comprehension problems of learners in Grade 9 who are having problems in understanding and
learning due to their problems in reading which goals intended to take implementations at the end
of the second quarter of the first semester for school year 2022-2023.

IV. TARGET BENEFICIARIES


A list of identified non-readers from the Grade 9 learners based from the brigada pagbasa
program results during the opening of classes/enrollment for SY 2022-2023. With this, the teachers
wish to address this learning issue by implementing intervention/remediation to identified Grade 9
Learners.

V. RATIONALE
Modular distance learning is the adapted mode of teaching in Malacampa National High School
which is applicable in the current situation. MDL is also the mode teaching that best suited the
learners due to no internet connectivity, limited gadgets that can be use by the learner and scarcity
of available materials at home and guidance which made it difficult for the learners to achieved
necessary skills i.e. reading interventions are some of the reasons.
These are some of the possible reasons for the identified learning issue i.e. reading/
comprehension problem as per reported in the list of non-readers based on the brigada pagbasa
results. There is an apparent need for the learners to master the skill of reading by giving them tasks
that which will guide them to gain the proper skill to learn how to read. Thus, the Grade 9
teachers came up with the idea of the used of Reading Remediation materials downloaded from
Deped Click website to resolve the issue.

VI. OBJECTIVES
The objective of implementing the Reading Remedial Intervention using downloaded
materials and Enrichment Activity is to address students’ reading problems as per the list
of identified non-readers from the brigada pagbasa project during enrollment period.

VII. PROJECT DESCRIPTION


This Intervention Program/ Reading Remedial Intervention for Grade 9 students aims to address
the learning problems due to learners not able to read on identified learners in Grade 9. These
learners failed to gain mastery on many competency because of the lack of reading skills. In this
manner, the teacher intends to reach out to these students through project RRI9 and perform
tutoring or limited face to face interactions to be able to make sure that the learners will
eventually gain mastery of the reading skills.
The intervention material, together with the contextualized materials provided by the teachers
will be presented to students through afternoon remediation classes. The teachers will also
encourage parents to allow to students to come to school in a limited basis and following
prescribed safety protocols for limited face to face remedial classes.

X. EXPECTED OUTPUT OF THE PROJECT


At the end of the project/program the selected, identified learners will be able to acquire mastery
of reading skills and will be able to improve on their comprehension for both English and Filipino
Languages.

XI. MONITORING AND EVALUATION


The teacher will conduct monitoring to learner progress through formative assessment which
will be provided at the end of the lesson.
