Assessment Task 1
1. What do you think that the church was against the approval of Rizal bill?
2. Give one important provision of the Rizal bill? Why?
ANSWER:
1. The approval of the result abuse means that every school should include the study about Rizal's
life and works, particularly his novels, it is known to all of us that some of Rizal's works are
against the church due to the inhumane treatment of some friars and church leaders in his time.
Rizal was accused of masonry or a person who does not believe in God, in which they say he
retracted before his death. It would be a bad reference for the church image having someone like
him idolize by the youth who is against the church. For a sector who teaches Christianity as a
divine teaching, letting his work being studied and taught means degrading the church.
2. “ The life, work and writing of Jose Rizal, particularly his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, I
constant and inspiring source of patriotism with which the mind of the youth, especially during their formative
and decisive years in school, should be suffused.” Being a youth is a stage in our life where we can now start
understanding things around us, this is also the time when we start making decisions of our own though it’s not
that perfect. Patriotism is something someone should always possess the love for your country and to fight for it
whether on Battlefield or through more diplomatic way like writing and journalism. Rizal choose to fight in a
diplomatic way by opening the eyes of the Filipino people to the idea that we should fight for what is ours and
for our freedom and that we Filipino should be treated with fairness, he did it by writing his novels. This kind of
patriotism should be known to every youth that’s why it is a must to include his work in the curricula of all
schools because “ the youth is the hope of our future.”
