    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR EARTHING CABLE


    Description: Cu/XLPE/(Cu)/PVC

    1. Scope

    This specification covers single core copper conductor, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated,
    PVC outer sheathed cable in accordance with IEC publication 60502-1.

    2. Reference Standards

    ■ IEC 60228: Conductors of insulated cables


    ■ IEC 60502: Power cables with extruded insulation and their accessories for rated voltages
    from 1kV (Um=1.2kV) up to 30kV (Um=36kV)
    Part 1: Cables for rated voltages of 1kV (Um=1.2kV) and 3kV (Um=3.6kV)

    3. Construction and Material

    Construction of the cable shall meet the requirements specified in the attached table and as follows.

    3.1 Conductor

    The conductor of cable shall consist of the compact circular stranded from the plain annealed copper
    wires in accordance with IEC 60228 (class 2).

    3.2 Insulation

    The insulation shall consist of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). The minimum thickness at any point
    shall be not less than 90% of the nominal value specified in the attached table by more than 0.1mm

    Suitable tape(s) maybe applied over the insulation as bedding.

    3.4 Outer sheath

    The Outer sheath shall consist of an extruded black PVC compound.


    The minimum thickness at any point shall be not less than 85% of the nominal value specified in the
    attached table by more than 0.1mm

    4. Cable marking
    The following description shall be printed on the PVC outer sheath throughout the entire length of the
    cable:
    1. Manufacturer's name (LS-VINA Cable & System)
    2. Cable type (Cu/XLPE/PVC)
    3. Cross-sectional area of the conductor and rate voltage (240SQMM 3kV)
    4. Year of manufacture (2022)

    5. Tests

    The following tests shall be conducted at manufacturer's works in accordance with IEC 60502-1
    * Check of dimensions
    * Measurement of D.C resistance of conductor
    * A.C Voltage Test (6.5kV/5min.) for insulation

    6. Packing

    The completed cable shall be wound non-returnable wooden drum.
