material storage.
e) Shall be used forklift to mobilize the materials into the work area if necessary.
f) Pallet Jack shall be used during work where necessary for mobilize the material to work
location needed.
4 To brief the workers on the job sequence and streamline their job for hazard avoidance
prior work starts.
6 To prepare the power supply to the working area by using extension wire.
8 WORK SEQUENCE
- Once the scaffold has been erected essentially supervisor will offer to KSM for
inspection along with handover certificate and Scaff tag
d) Procedure of installation:
- Setting out the position and location for installation with references to exact
location
- Make sure that area where scaffolding erection is taking place shall be fully
isolated and barricaded to prevent entry of unauthorized personnel
- Installed ledger with 6m length with joint staggered using right angle coupler
- Fix 1st lift transoms will be fixed to the ledgers with putlog clips adjacent to the
standard
- Installed the guardrails with have top rail and mid rail with National standard
design.
- Once all guardrails are completed including stop-ends toe board will be fitted
to all elevations required
- Installed two standard rails for used the chain block point (refer drawing) used
lifting the I beam moving
- Installed the toe boards (metal deck) as toe boards or as required National
Standard and must be secured to prevent movement and floor protection
- Ledgers bracing to fixed to the end pairs of standard and alternative pairs of
standard using swivel couplers within 300mm of the node point
- Scaffold shall be planked end to end on each side of the object. The planking
needs to be supported around the subject to ensure the decking or planking
will sufficiently hold the intended weight and tools and materials (Refer
calculation)
- For vertical ladder attached internally to the narrow side clear hand and foot
holds shall be provided by blocking pieces if necessary. Where vertical
ladders rise 4m an intermediate landing is 2.5m
- Once the scaffold has been erected essentially supervisor will offer to KSM for
inspection along with handover certificate and Scaff tag
d) Procedure of installation:
- Set out the position and location for installation with references to grid line
- Make sure that area where scaffolding erection is taking place shall be fully
isolated and barricaded to prevent entry of unauthorized personnel
- Fix 1st lift transoms will be fixed to the ledgers with putlog clips adjacent to the
standard and to support the boards every 1.2m. The minimum and maximum
board overhangs will be observed
- The transoms must be tied to the permanent beam structure at the 1.2m
intervals. The scaffold will be carried out the necessary clamp at every ledgers
fixing to the existing beam.
- Installed the guardrails no less than 970mm (32 inch) or not more than 1140mm
(45 inch) high with a mid-rails or as required by National Standard. There must
not be a gap between guardrails or between toe boards and guardrails, greater
than 470mm (18 inch)
- Once all guardrails are completed including stop-ends toe board will be fitted to
all elevations and the window reveals. All to be boards will be secured at a
minimum two position using putlog clips to the standard. Stop ends will be fixed
using ‘dead man’ puncheon where necessary
- Installed the toe boards with the minimum of 102mm (3 ½ inches) in height to
accommodate the use of 2x4 lumber as toe boards or as required National
Standard and must be secured to prevent movement. Toe boards are to be of
aluminums or steel performed to match the scaffold
- Ledgers bracing to fixed to the end pairs of standard and alternative pairs of
standard using swivel couplers within 300mm of the node point
- Netting must be placed between the toe board and mid rails to prevent materials
falling onto the ground exposing people below to fall hazards
- All poles, legs or upright of scaffolds shall be plumb and rigidly braced to prevent
swaying and displacement. Sufficient ties or raking shores shall be provided to
ensure that scaffold fall away from the object being scaffolder
- Fully planked of the scaffold work platform with aluminums or steel scaffold
planks or 51mm x 254mm (2’’x10’’ inches nominal to accommodate the use of
nominal lumber which is more prevalent than thickness 2x10 that meets planking
requirement.
- Scaffold shall be planked end to end on each side of the object. The planking
needs to be supported around the subject to ensure the decking or planking will
sufficiently hold the intended weight and tools and materials (Refer calculation)
- For vertical ladder attached internally to the narrow side clear hand and foot
holds shall be provided by blocking pieces if necessary. Where vertical ladders
rise 4m an intermediate landing is 2.5m
- Setting out-Existing Beam Structure will be used as reference for setting out of
opening and subsequently setting out for position Beam Structure as support.
- Boards will be placed above the beam structure and clams to be used to lock
tubes onto ‘I’ beams along 10m to the existing walkaway.
- Tubes will be placed above or positioned inside the web parallel beams. In all
cases they will be locked in position using beam clamps
- Working away from the ladder position scaffolders will fix bottom guardrails
progressively to the standard using right angle couplers. The main guardrail will
be fixed at a minimum height 950mm above the working platform. An
intermediate guardrail will be fixed to ensure no vertical gap greater than 470mm
between guardrails
- Once the scaffold has been erected essentially supervisor will offer to KSM for
inspection along with handover certificate and Scaff tag
D. Dismantle Scaffold
- After removal of materials and equipment from the working platform, dismantle
generally in the reverse order of the erection sequence
- Removal the ties to the permanent structure should progress at the same rate as
the dismantling process.
- Do not remove ties until the dismantling of the scaffold reached the level of the
ties
- Do not remove diagonal braces until it necessary to remove the standard which
it is a attached
- Ledgers should not be removed from any working level before the removal of
scaffold planks from the same level
- Prior to the dismantling of scaffolding that is taking place and also during
dismantling process the following safety precautions must be followed.
a) Upon completion, joint survey with KSM shall be carried out to check for compliance
with the specified requirement.
Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) shall include inspection at the following stage.
ITP shall also address the “Hold Point”, where approval on the work activity is required.
