Pleading The Blood
Pleading The Blood
What is meant by the phrase? What do they mean when one uses the phrase “Pleading the
Blood”? The phrase “pleading the blood” is often used by God’s people. What does it mean to
plead the blood of Jesus Christ? Pleading the blood simply means applying the blood to our
thought life; our life experiences and its circumstances just like the Israelites applied it to their
door posts and were protected from the destroyer Exodus 12.
Pleading the blood of Jesus is simply the taking hold of the authority and power available to us
by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Jesus has shed His blood and made it available for every believer to use. Our tongues or speech
have the same role as the hyssop that the Israelites utilized. We are to use our voices and speech
to apply the blood in all areas of our lives. Knowledge of this blood is not sufficient, it is our
responsibility to declare the power of the blood of Jesus over our homes, lives and our minds. It
is our faith in that power given by the Holy Spirit that brings the victory. Romans 10:10. We
plead the blood by confessing the salvation and the deliverance the blood has brought us.
Imagine the world as a gigantic courtroom, God being the Judge, sitting on His heavenly throne.
Hebrews 12:23 Jesus is your advocate, standing beside you to argue your case 1 John 2:1 He
reminds the Judge that He died and shed His blood for you. The devil, Satan, is your accuser
bringing charges and even attacks against you Revelation 12:10, Zechariah 3:1 When an
accusation is brought against a person in a court of law, the defendant, if innocent, can greatly
increase His or her chances of being acquitted by producing a reliable witness. Here lies the
power of pleading the blood.
Although we were not physically there when Jesus died, His shed blood bears witness to the fact
that He died, rose again and defeated the powers of darkness Colossians 2: 15. All witnesses
need to do is speak. Remember the blood is living, powerful and it speaks Hebrews 12: 24. When
we actively plead, speak out, the blood into the negative circumstances and attacks Satan brings
against us, we are bringing a powerful witness on our behalf 1 John 5:8. Pleading or declaring
the blood causes the blood of Christ to witness on our behalf and brings an end to the onslaught
of the Evil one. Any time you sense the powers of darkness coming against you plead the blood
of Jesus Christ against those powers. You should use whatever speech or words the Holy Spirit
leads you to use or lays on your mind. A good example is:
If the forces of darkness are attacking your home and your life, “plead the blood” Pray out loud
“Lord Jesus, cause this evil to cease in your precious holy name. I lift up your blood against this
evil invasion. I know your blood has defeated all the forces of evil aligned against me. Your
blood has set me free. It avails for me now and forever. I plead your blood over my home, over
my life and over my entire family. Jesus protects us from these evil thoughts we have, the evil
temptations when they come. Help us to keep our minds clean and to avoid and flee temptation.”
Continue to plead Christ’s blood until you find yourself walking in the heavenly freedom that
Jesus Christ' death, burial and resurrection has bought for you. As a personal testimony let me
share with you how the power of the blood of Jesus Christ destroys the thoughtful invasions of
Satan:
One Friday a number of years back I had just completed a series of meetings at a Baptist church
in North Carolina, on the “Spirit World.” One older lady stood up during the middle of my
message, pulling her hair, screaming “I’m demon possessed, I’m demon possessed” and ran out
of the church. The pastor told me he never saw her again. Another guy almost ran me over
leaving by way of the front door as we were shaking hands, jabbering “I hate you.” over and over
again. A week later this same man came back to church and apologized to the pastor and the
pastor called me and told me that the man wanted me to know that he did not hate me. He told
that pastor he was speaking to an “evil-spirit” that was bothering him when he left that night. He
told him when he got home, he starting “pleading the blood” as I had preached to him earlier that
evening. He claimed to have plead the blood for over an hour and finally the evil-spirit left him.
That man told that pastor that it worked and he wanted me to know that the power of the blood of
Jesus Christ had set him free from an evil mind. I too can vouch for its power “Pleading the
Blood” works for the child of God! It’s been said that “the mind is the devil’s workshop.” It may
be a lifetime battle but keeping a clean mind is a gift indeed.
I personally “Plead the Blood” of Jesus Christ, actively in my everyday life and can testify to its
wholesome power. To be honest I’m continually over and over again “Pleading the Blood.”
What a vile sanctuary is the mind without the power of the blood of Christ. Have you
experienced it’s power?
