Present simple del verb to be: (ser o estar)
 Normally we use the verb to be to show the status or characteristics of something or someone.
Normalmente usamos el verbo para mostrar el estado o las características de algo o alguien.
 the verb "to be" is used to describe something or someone.
el verbo "ser" se usa para describir algo o alguien.
For names (para nombres): She is Sheila
For ages (para edades): He is 6 years old.
For feelings (para sensaciones /sentimientos): Lauren and Sandra are happy.
For nationalities (para nacionalidades): We are from Thailand.
For professions (para profeciones): You aren’t a painter, you are a singer.
There are three forms in all tenses positive / negative and question form.
Positive form negative form question form
 I am a student. I am not a student. Am I a student?

 He is a doctor. He is not a doctor. Is he a doctor?
 She is a nurse. She isn’t a nurse Is she a nurse?

Present simple To Be - Affirmative
 Contractions of To Be are very frequent when we are speaking.
