NARRATIVE REPORT
The Department of education (DepEd) has a long standing policy that governs good
grooming. This includes prescribing a so-called proper haircut for male pupils in both private
and public schools. In fact, it was also stated in Paragraph 1.1.2, Section 1, Chapter III, Part IV
of 2000 DECS Service Manual, that outlandish hairstyles was included as a minor offense. But
forcing them for a haircut might break their right. The school also respect the belief that the
family of the child adheres to.
For this reason, Lauis Elementary School teaching force with the help and participation
of LES-GAY ORGA conducted a community project titled ‘PROJECT CUT-LIBAN ( Haircut
Mo, Libre Na, Ganda Pa!), last August 16, 2022, held at Lauis Elementary School. The said
activity was actively participated by the learners from Kindergarten to Grade VI also with their
parents. This projects aims to promote the importance of good grooming among pupils and
inculcate among the pupils the proper haircut calls for good concentration in their studies. Listed
below are some of the testimonies given by the students and parents on the said activity.
“Salamat sa libreng gupit at kami po ay nakatipid ng kaunti. Isang malaking tulong poi
to sa amin.”
