If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you don’t like February! It is
cold, the days are short and it rains a lot
or sometimes, it snows. The sky is grey and
cloudy. Happily, it is a short month, just
twenty-eight days. Twenty-eight days of
wearing warm clothes, hats and coats.
There is one fun thing about February and
that is Saint Valentine’s Day on February
14th. Apart from that, it is a miserable
month. However, we need to change our
attitude to February! Let’s think that each
of the twelve months of the year is like one of the twelve hours of
the day. January is 8am, just getting out of bed. The summer
months – June, July, August, are like lunch time, packed full of nice
things. The autumn months are like late afternoon and tea time, when
we are taking things easy. The winter month December is night time,
when we are getting tired and ready for bed. So – what does that
make February? February is 9 o’clock in the morning! We are having a
nice cup of tea or coffee and making our plans for a great day. Or
we are arriving at our desk at work. We are looking at the day ahead
and hoping for a good, successful day. So, if you follow my logic –
February is a month of optimism and potential. A time to be positive!
Oh, it’s February now, so good morning - and it’s time to make your
plans for a great year!

I love my family!
Sara and Oliver are very excited!

Today they are going to the new Shopping Mall with their mum.

They like to look at all the shops with their many different things. Sara likes to look in the clothes

shops and see the latest fashion. But Oliver prefers to look in the toy shop or the sports shops as he

loves football. Before they leave the house, their father gives them 200 euros each, as a reward for

having good results in their exams. At the Shopping Mall Sara sees a pink blouse in a shop window,
and she says to the shop assistant, “excuse me, how much is that pink blouse?”

“80 euros” replies the shop assistant. “That’s too expensive” says Samia, “This yellow blouse is 30
euros” says the assistant. “That’s better, I’ll take it” replies Sara. She also buys brown trousers

and black shoes. Oliver wants to look at some football boots in the sports shop, he buys a black and
orange

pair. He also buys a black tracksuit. “Why don’t we buy a present for your father?” asks their mum.

“Good Idea!” they both say, “what can we buy him?” They look in the department store and they see

some ties, they decide to buy a blue tie for their father. When they get home, they give their father

his present. He is very surprised and happy.
